Freshman Minority Scholarship 2013

This scholarship will provide a $250.00 award to a qualifyingminority student who meets all criteria and intends to enroll in the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the Fall 2013semester.

The deadline for the completed application is due or postmarked byFriday, March 1, 2013. The scholarship will be presented to the student at the BFSA Awards reception on Tuesday,

March 19, 2013. Money will be disbursed to the student at the beginning of the Fall 2013 semester.

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Minimum 23 ACT composite
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Be a member of an ethnic minority group- African American, American Indian, Hispanic American, Asian American, or Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.
  • Complete the attached form and return by the deadline (Friday, March 1, 2013)
  • Must be a Louisiana resident
  • Must be graduating from a Louisiana high school

Judging Criteria:

  • Students are asked to complete all short answer questions and will be judged on current and past school and community involvement, leadership ability, and personal character that can be judged by the answers to the application questions.
  • Answers should be in short paragraph form (4-6 sentences).
  • All information should be true and correct to the best of your knowledge.
