JOB TITLE: English Language Summer School Tutors / DEPARTMENT: English Language Centre
LOCATION: Brayford Pool campus / REPORTS TO: English Language Centre Co-ordinator

Context / The English Language Centre is seeking to appoint a number of suitably-qualified, experienced English language tutors for the University of Lincoln Chinese summer School. A number of positions are available, dependant upon the final cohort size.
This is a new project for the University of Lincoln and will include a comprehensive programme of English language development and cultural activities for up to 150 students visiting the UK from Nanchang University based in China. The period of employment is fixed term for a 5 week period comprising 1 week of preparation followed by 4 weeks of teaching.
Proposed course dates:
The proposed course dates for teaching are:
Monday 2nd July to Friday 6th July – Preparation and induction for teachers
15 hours
Monday 9th July to Friday 3rd August 2012 – Teaching
The course will require 24 hours of teaching per week
Job Purpose / To teach an English Language programme centred around developing communication skills to groups of Chinese students of various levels (lower intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibility 1
To teach a maximum of 24 hours per week to groups of between 10 -16 students of various levels (lower- intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate).
Key Responsibility 2
To prepare, plan and teach English lesson to a high standard, based on the scheme of work provided by the English Language Centre.
Key Responsibility 3
To complete and keep up to date with the administrative paperwork as necessary including;
·  end of course reports
·  classroom registers
·  marking
·  class records of work
Key Responsibility 4
To maintain classroom discipline, keep classrooms safe and tidy, maintain student and personal punctuality and begin and end lessons according to the timetable.
In addition, undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.

1.  An RSA CELTA qualification, or a Trinity TESOL certificate or equivalent.
2.  A good Honours degree
3.  Cambridge ESOL DELTA teaching award, an RSA Diploma TEFLA or equivalent, or a recognized postgraduate qualification in EAP, EFL, Applied Linguistics.
