The Department of Human Biology is a large multidisciplinary department carrying out teaching and research in aspects of Physiology & Anatomy, Cell Biology, Medical Education, Neurosciences, Biomedical Engineering, Nutrition & Dietetics and Exercise Sciences.

We invite applications for a 5-year contract position to teach the basic biological sciences component of the Intervention Programme (IP) for the Physiotherapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT) and Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) students. The IP programme is a one- year course designed to assist students who might otherwise not succeed in their first year of study.

Requirements:

·  A PhD degree in Biological Sciences or Health Sciences OR a MBChB degree

·  3-5 years’ research and/or teaching experience in Physiology, Cell Biology and/or Anatomy

·  3-5 years undergraduate teaching experience and an interest in Health Sciences education would be advantageous

Responsibilities:

·  Design and deliver lectures, tutorials and practicals in Physiology, Cell Biology and Anatomy

·  Formulate appropriate diagnostic, formative and summative assessments

·  Facilitate the learning and integration of fundamental biological concepts

·  Alignment and collaboration of the IP programme with the mainstream programme

·  Review and research the continued development of the IP programme

·  Conduct research, including educational research
