PFLAG is the organization of parents, families, friends, and allies
United with LGBTQ+ people to move equality forward!
PURPOSE:
To recognize outstanding members of the LGBTQ+ and gender variant communityand straight allied studentsthroughout the state of Arizona.
To encourage continuing education for these above students.
SCHOLARSHIP OFFERED FOR 2018:
The PFLAG PHOENIX Scholarship Fund for 2018 is a $3000 fund to be awarded to candidate(s) selected by the Scholarship Committee.
Please be sure to check our PFLAG Phoenix website for additional scholarships being offered by PFLAG National and other LGBTQ+ friendly organizations (link: ).
ELIGIBILITY:
Must be a self-identified member of the LGBTQ+ community, gender variant, or straight ally (i.e., a heterosexual student who demonstrates outstanding direct support to the LGBTQ+ community.
Must be planning to enroll, or currently enrolled, in a degree program at an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
Must be a resident of the state of Arizona at the time of scholarship application.
Incomplete submissions may not be considered for a scholarship.
May be a previous PFLAG Phoenix scholarship award recipient.
TERMS:
Awards will be made payable to the institution selected by the candidate for the benefit of the candidate
The award must be used within 2018.
All information submitted to PFLAG Phoenix will be strictly confidential and will not be shared outside the Scholarship Selection Committee.
DEADLINE & AWARD:
A completed PFLAG Phoenix Scholarship Application Form must be submitted along with all required supporting materials, including letters of recommendation, GPA and transcript, to be emailed together to by April 15, 2018.PFLAG Phoenix is not responsible for lost or misdirected email. A confirmation email will be sent letting you know that we have received your application packet.
The Scholarship Selection Committee will review all applications and make their selectionsby May 1, 2018. All applicants will be notified via the method requested on their Scholarship Application Form by May5, 2018. The decisions by the Scholarship Selection Committee are final.
Awards will be presented at our May 21st, 2018 PFLAG central Phoenix support meeting.
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING APPLICATIONS:
Affirmation of one's sexual orientation,gender identity, or straight ally giving support.
GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Participation and leadership in community activities.
Hardships you have overcome or currently face that make it challenging to achieve your dream.
