BASIC JOB SUMMARY
This is a grant supported position funded by the U.S. Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Education Award Number U215N110053 CFDA 84.12N for a 5 year implementation grant (January 1, 2012 – December 31, 2016).
The Eastside Promise Neighborhood (EPN) College and Career Coordinator is responsible for the college and career components of the EPN implementation grant. The Coordinator will be co-located on Sam Houston’s High School campus to provide direct impact on all students entering college and/or career pathways. The Coordinator will work closely with service providers that contribute to the college and career pipeline to provide support to students and caregivers transitioning to college and career. The Coordinatorwill ensure United Way’s compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements – for both the programmatic and grant management aspects of the program, including all parent engagement related work. The Coordinatorwill provide support on the specialized initiatives that address all EPN’s college and career readiness objectives.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the EPN Directorof Operations in overall project compliance with expectations of U.S. Department of Education, Fund for the Improvement of Education, Promise Neighborhoods Implementation Grant Award.
- Assist the Director of Operations in coordinating all data collection, entry, analysis, and report out of research and evaluation for Promise Neighborhood for results/EPN Promises 4, 5, and 9.
- Responsible for the coordination and management of specific strategies and results related to EPN results # 4 and 5 in the EPN work plan; and for the achievement and accountability ofGovernment Performance Results Act (GPRA) indicators 6,7a, 7b, 7c, 7d, and 14.
- Responsible for the coordination of supportive services and resources that target students and caregivers transitioning to college and/or career.
- Assist the Director of Operations in the design and distribution of all project materials for training, outreach and education related to college and career readiness.
- Assist the Director of Operationsin the coordination of Advisory Council and communitymeetings in target schools, churches, neighborhood associations, etc. to address the issue of college/career readiness.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all schools, students, parents/family/caregivers and residents, and partners in the target neighborhood.
- Represent Promise Neighborhood in the community.
- Other duties as assigned to insure project implementation.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred and/or years of experienceEXPERIENCE
- Three to five years related work experience
- College and career counseling and/or experience preferred
SPECIAL SKILLS
- Bi-lingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred
- Background working with students, families and residents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access) proficiency a must
- Some evening and weekend work required
