VerbalI enjoy reading, writing and speaking / Draw a picture of a plant and label its features. / Write a recipe for a vegetarian meal – what plants do the ingredients come from? / Prepare a talk about an unusual plant that other people may not know about / Find out about a plant that grows in a different country. Write an information text about it using headings and paragraphs.
Mathematical
I enjoy working with numbers and science / Make a tally chart of the plants you find in your garden. / Plant a seed. Take a picture of what you have grown and measure it’s height. / Find out about the different environments in which plants grow. / Make a poster to tell people what plants need to grow strong and healthy
Visual
I enjoy painting, drawing and visualising / Draw a picture of a flower or plant / Use printing or paint to make a tree picture / Make a map of where different forests come from around the world. / Design your own enchanted garden. Label what is in it.
Kinaesthetic
I enjoy doing hands on activities / Make a model of a tree, plant or flower / Visit a forest and make a picture using bark rubbings / Make a collage using petals, leaves and twigs / Use handprint painting to create a fairy tale creature.
Musical
I enjoy making and listening to music / Make a piece of music of Little Red Riding Hood’s journey through the forest / Go to a forest and listen to the sounds you can hear through the day and record them / Listen to music from fairy tales – how does it make you feel? What instruments can you hear? Does the volume and pitch change depending on what is happening in the story? / Compose your own song that the creatures of the enchanted forest would sing and record it to play to the class.
Interpersonal
I enjoy working with others / Plant seeds in your garden with a grown up and watch them grow / Have a sunflower growing competition with a friend – whose will be the tallest? / Go to a forest and make a home for a fairy with a friend / Create a play with friends that is set in a magical forest.
These activities should be completed as home learning. They can be completed in any order and you should aim to complete at least one task a week.
By the end of the term you should have completed any 5 of the above activities and at least one from each row.
