YEAR 11Information Communication Technology.

UNIT:Advanced Graphic Design

Introduction to Gaming and Coding.

UNIT OVERVIEW:This unit of study aims to develop in students the ability to design, produce and evaluate business cards and other business items using InDesign. Students will explore the features of InDesign, including the workspace bleed, layers, pen tool, text options, special symbols and paragraph styles, using tutorials provided. Students will be introduced to Adobe InDesign for the preparation of documentation. It will extend the previous unit of Graphic Design.

Students will be introduced to Gaming and Coding by exploring the features of Scratch game maker and Arduino electronics.

.

ASSESSMENT:A project completed over 4 weeks done individually assessing

Knowledge & Communication, Design & Development and Implementation & Evaluation

UNIT DETAILS:

No / Learning Goal / Success Criteria
(I Know I’ve got it when I can …)
1 / Define the concepts of IT terms and concepts as applied in Graphic Design. / Successfully complete the tutorials to gain an understanding of the concepts and features of InDesign. Explain terms and concepts used in the project in the Design Brief, Letters to Client, Journal entries and the Evaluation Report.
2 / Communicate concepts and principles using suitable genre and language conventions. / Presents a clear and coherent report for the project using correct genre and the correct use of spelling, grammar and punctuation.
3 / Analyse client’s needs, purpose and scenarios to inform the design plan. / Demonstrates understanding by producing a detailed design brief, sketches of proposal and letters to the client.
4 / Synthesise information to design solutions. / Produce a product that satisfies the client’s requirements. Clearly detail progress of the product in letters to the client, in the evaluation report and in the journal.
5 / Develop and test components to refine solutions. / Provides clear evidence of testing of solutions in journal, letters to client and evaluation report. Shows evidence of improvements in reports from draft to final copy.
6 / Use technical skills and resources to present a solution. / Evidence of the use of a variety of technical skills with documentation that details and justifies the skills used in the journal, letters to client and evaluation report.
7 / Define and develop the concepts of gaming and robotics to create a variety of programs for everyday use. / Evidence of the use of a variety of technical skills and logical sequencing in the programming and coding area to create real life projects.
