Meet with and enjoy a social visit with your Union Grove Village Officials and staff.
Tour what once was the Racine-Kenosha County Training School for Teachers.Opened in 1916, training teachers and teaching students until 1971. Photos of the school, students and other related items will be on display. The college is currently the home of the Village of Union Grove and The Town of Yorkville municipal offices.
Enjoy a permanent display of historic Union Grove photos, artifacts and memorabilia that has been assembled by members of The History Seekers. Items of interest include past Village celebrations, photo enlargements of Union Grove, historical items from Yorkville and Dover.
In recognition of the Village’s 175th Anniversary refreshments will be served.
“A Walk through Union Grove’s History”
Begins at the U.G. Congregational United Church of Christ

This self-guided walking tour begins at 10:30 am at the U.G. Congregational UCC. After a short history of the church, walkers will be given a detailed map that will take them through time in the Village. They will be welcomed along the way by guides pointing out places of significance. Highlights on the tour include the inside of the Masonic Temple, which was originally the Village’s First Brick School, and the inside of the U.G. Methodist Church where walkers can sit down and rest while hearing the history of the church. Other sites along the tour include the original location of the depot, several town merchants, hotels and homes of prominent Village citizens.

John S. Blakey House Ice Cream Social

Held on the frontlawn of the historic home of John S. Blakey, the first Village President where the Blakey’s Women’s Corps Ice Cream Social was held to benefit Union Grove’s Band Services on this site 108 years ago! Proceeds of this year’s Ice Cream Social will go to the Union Grove 4th of July Parade.
Walkers should be sure to enjoy strolling past the other grand homes on Union Grove’s Historic Main Street. You never know who you might meet!
