UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT

1. GENERAL. The following is the uniform and equipment SOP for the Squadron. All equipment will be maintained and serviceable. Equipment and uniforms are subject to inspection at any time.

2. UNIFORM.

a. Battle Dress Uniform. At a minimum, the BDU uniform will have name and US ARMY tape, rank, and ROTC patch.

b. Head gear. Designated by the Squadron SGM for each activity. Normally the standard garrison head gear will be the patrol cap for candidates and the black beret for TTIS qualified members. During tactical operations, the standard head gear will be the black or camouflage boonie hat or black watch cap as directed. The kevlar helmet with helmet cover will be worn as required.

c. Boots. Black combat or jungle boots will be worn. When in garrison, boots will be highly brush shined. Other black boots of military design will be approved on a case by case basis by the Squadron SGM.

d. A small notepad and pencil will be carried at all times by all members. A pen may be used as well, but the pencil with eraser is mandatory. Preferably a mechanical pencil with a .5mm lead. Pencil lead does not run link ink when papers get wet, it is more accurate when marking a map location or azimuth and the marks can be easily erased, the pencil’s eraser can be used to clean alcohol markings off of map acetate as well as the contact points on radio connectors.

2. LCE. At a minimum, the LCE will have two 1-qt canteens, one canteen cup, a 1st aid pouch, a compass pouch with compass, and two ammunition pouches. A flashlight maybe worn as approved by the Squadron SGM. No other modifications to the LCE are authorized for candidates (non-TTIS or CQC qualified members. Butt-packs are authorized for use by TTIS or CQC qualified Commando. Other modifications to the LCE by a Commando are subject to the approval of the Squadron SGM.

3. RUCK SACK. The ruck sack packing list for the Squadron will be at a minimum the following items (additional items may be added):

a. 1 Swiss seat and snap link

b. 1 pair Work gloves

c. 1 Watch cap, black (unless worn)

d. 2 pair of socks

e. 1 Kevlar helmet (unless worn)

f. 1 set BDUs

g. 1 water proof bag

h. 1 field jacket (unless worn)

i. 1 field jacket liner (unless worn)

j. 1 pair of boots

k. 1 poncho

l. 1 flashlight with a red lens (unless worn on the LBE)

m. 6 sandbags, empty
