HartfordInfo - Position Announcement

HartfordInfo, a project of the Hartford Public Library and the Hartford Community Information Center (HCIC), is seeking a Community Information Technology Coordinator to perform research analysis, develop and maintain community databases and interactive maps, and build and maintain the HartfordInfo (www.hartfordinfo.org) web site.

The primary objective of HartfordInfo is to promote the well being of Hartford's communities by democratizing information and data from a wide variety of sources, by making it easily accessible, and by facilitating its interpretation and use. HartfordInfo promotes the strengthening of Hartford and the region by fostering the use of information and data in local policymaking and community building. HartfordInfo is a member of the National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership (NNIP).

Required Qualifications:

§  Education: Master’s degree in related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

§  Experience: A minimum of 1 – 3 years of demonstrated related experience.

Additional Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following additional qualifications. However, all potential candidates are welcome to apply.

§  Interest in/commitment to the use of information and data in building communities and serving neighborhoods.

§  Substantial experience in data analysis.

§  Experience in web site development and maintenance.

§  Demonstrated knowledge and high level of ability and comfort operating Windows-based computers and applications.

§  Demonstrated ability to learn new applications as needed.

§  Knowledge of one or more of the following desirable: MS Access, SPSS, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), ASP, Dreamweaver MX, SQL.

§  Ability to work in a dynamic, ever-changing environment.

§  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

§  Demonstrated ability to initiate, organize, and set priorities in a team environment.

§  Ability to interact with a diverse population.

§  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, staff, and community groups.

Salary range: $39,994 - $53,846.
