  1. Minutes:

The minutes from the meeting held on the 19th November 2004 were agreed as correct.

  1. UKNONPF and the RCN NP Association

Mike Walsh is to formally ask the NPA to allow UKNONPF to become a sub-group of the NPA at the NPA steering committee meeting to be held at the RCN in the afternoon of the 16th January 2004. (Action MW)

3.1 How will UKNONPF work in reality ?

Following a committee discussion it was decided to ask for a joining fee of £25:00 from each interested Higher Educational Institution (HEI) who wants to become a member of UK NONPF. This would be used for Travelling expenses, RCN Congress, Room hire etc. UKNONPF would need to open a bank account as a separate entity from the NPA and Mike Walsh agreed to act as treasurer (Action MW). Mike Walsh and Helen Ward would be the signatories for the account. NB – UKNONPF owes Katrina Maclaine £140 for expenses occurred in organising last years RCN Congress fringe event.

A letter would be sent to all UKNONPF members and any new interested parties explaining the format of UKNONPF and the aims and objectives of the group. A remittance form would be enclosed with details of where the cheques should be sent. (Action HW)

As much correspondence as possible would be done by email.

The committee members would share the writing of the minutes by rotation.

3.2 Process for joining NPA

The exact method for joining the NPA would be decided in their steering group meeting.

It was agreed that a representative from UKNONPF would attend the NPA steering committee quarterly meetings, and Benny Harston (or a representative) would be asked to attend the UKNONPF meetings.

The NPA steering committee will be included in the UKNONPF circulation.

Details of the UKNONPF group could be put on the NPA web site and a link between websites will be developed (see 4.4).

All UKNONPF members will be asked to flag up the importance of asking their students (who are RCN members) to sign up to the NPA as their first choice every year via RCN Direct or therefore increasing the NPA numbers and so giving the NPA more voting power at the RCN Congress. All students should be encouraged to use the NPA website and join the NPUK e-group.

  1. UKNOPNF Committee membership

4.1Sue Thomas, Lynne Collier and Daphne Miller have resigned from UKNONPF as they have changed their jobs.
