Journal of Coordination Chemistry – Arthur E. Martell Early Career Researcher Award

  1. THE AWARD OWNER
  2. This Journal Paper Awardis run by Taylor & Francis, a trading division of Informa UK Limited, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 01072954 whose registered address is at 5 Howick Place, London SW1P 1WG (the “Award Owner”).
  1. THE AWARD
  2. The title of the awardis the Arthur E. Martell Early Career Researcher Award. The inaugural award was made in 2015.
  3. The Editors of “Journal of Coordination Chemistry” (the “Journal”) are awarding the Martell Early Career Researcher Prize of $1000 USD (the “Award”) to a talented, early career Principal Investigator/researcher who is within eight years of receiving their PhD degree on the date of submission of their manuscript. The winner is an author who is judged to have made a significant contribution to a top quality paper that has been published in the Journal the previous year (the “Winner”).
  1. PROCEDURE
  2. The award is available to all papers published within the annual journal volume and in an issue (excluding latest articles) for the period 1 January through to 31 December inclusive.
  3. Nomination will be via email to the Editor and must be received by the specified datein the subsequent year. Candidates will be required to submit:
  4. The full reference of the article for which the nominee is nominated
  5. Information on when the nominee received their PhD and their current position
  6. The nominee’s contribution to a multi-author manuscript
  7. A brief statement as to why the nominee should receive the award.
  8. The Award Owner will not accept:
  9. Responsibility for nominations that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.
  10. Proof of transmission as proof of receipt of nomination.
  11. By submitting a nomination, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions and any relevant terms found on the journal website.

  13. The nominations will be judged by the Editors (“Judges”). The decision of the Judges (acting reasonably) will be final.
  14. The Award Owner will send the full names of the judges to anyone who writes within one month after the Closing Date of the competition requesting details of the judges and who encloses a postage paid, self-addressed envelope to the address set out in clause 1.1.
  1. ELIGIBILITY
  2. In order to be eligible to participate in the competition, the nomineemust:
  3. Be an early career Principal Investigator/researcher within eight years of receiving their PhD degree on the date of submission of their manuscript.
  4. At the Editor’s sole discretion, nominations may be accepted for nominees who have held PhD degrees for more than eight years when a break in publication history has resulted from specified cases such as maternity/paternity leave or national service.These will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
  5. Be currently employed in an academic or government research position.
  6. Not be an employee of Taylor and Francis, its subsidiary and holding companies, their agents or any other person who is directly connected with the creation and operation of the competition or their immediate family; and
  7. Not be located in a sanctioned or embargoed country according to the International Trade Sanctions, as updated from time to time.
  8. In entering the award, all entrants must be eligible to do so and that the winner is eligible to claim the prize. The Award Owner may require proof that the nominations are eligible to enter the award.
  9. The Award Owneris not obliged to accept nominations that are incomplete.
  10. The Award Owner reserves all rights to refuse nominations if any conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the award.
  11. Only one author per published manuscript will be considered.
  1. THE AWARD
  2. The award is $1,000 USD(one thousand United States Dollars).
  3. The award is not negotiable or transferable.
  4. The winnerwill be contacted by the Editor once the winner has been selected and agreed using the email address provided on the entry.
  5. In order to receive the award, the winner must respond to the Editors email and consent the Taylor and Francis using their name, image and institutional affiliation to announce the winner of this award and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes.
  6. Taylor and Francis and the Editor will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner.
  7. Taylor and Francis does not accept any responsibility if the winner elects not to accept the award.
  1. WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT
  2. The name and institutional affiliation or country of the winner can be viewed on the Journal News and Martell Award website 14 days after the winner has been announced.
  3. The decision of the Editor and Judges is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
  1. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
  2. Insofar as is permitted by law, neither the Award Owner, nor its parent, subsidiary, affiliated and/or related companies, nor any of its or their shareholders, directors, officers, agents, employees, contractors or distributors shall in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the entrant or winner, or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of being entered into the award process or accepting the award. Nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude or restrict the Award Owner’s liability for death or injury resulting from the negligence of the Award Owner, or fraud and/or fraudulent misrepresentation. Your statutory rights are not affected.
  1. DATA PROTECTION AND PUBLICITY
  2. The winner of the award, must consent toTaylor and Francisusing their name, image and institutional affiliation or country of residence to announce the winner of the award and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes.
  3. By entering this award, the authors agree that any personal information provided to thisaward may be held and used only by the Award Owner and its affiliates to administer the award.
  1. GENERAL
  2. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Award Owner may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude any nominations from the award.
  3. The Award Owner reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the journal article award should it becomes necessary to do so.
  4. Participants acknowledge and agree that in entering this journal award, they will comply with all applicable laws and regulations including, without limitation, the Bribery Act 2010.
  5. These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
