The Department of Pharmaceutical Services at UCSF has long been nationally recognized as one of the founding fathers for clinical pharmacy services, which was established in 1965. Today, the department continues to lead the profession through the integration of advanced technology & robotics, comprehensive pharmaceutical care and clinical services. The UCSF Department of Pharmaceutical Services currently employs over 200 staff working over multiple campus locations in the city of San Francisco.

· Parnassus Campus - Our original campus, Parnassus is home to both inpatient and outpatient services, as well as research institutes and educational facilities. Our 15-story hospital, the Ambulatory Care Center and Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute are all located at Parnassus.

· Mission Bay Campus – Our newest campus, Mission Bay is home toUCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco,UCSF Betty Irene Moore Women's HospitalandUCSF Bakar Cancer Hospital, in addition to numerousoutpatient servicesfor both children and adults.

· UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland - In January 2014, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital established an affiliation with Children’s Hospital in Oakland, now called UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. It is home to a wide range of clinics and specialties that supports patients in the East Bay.

Mount Zion Hospital -UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion is home to outpatient clinics, surgery facilities and support services for both patients and families. UCSF'sOsher Center for Integrative Medicine,Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer CenterandCenter of Excellence in Women's Healthall have locations at the Mount Zion campus.

UCSF was recently recognized by American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) as one of the original resident programs in the United States to be accredited over 50 years ago. Today, UCSF continues to have a comprehensive pharmacy resident program with over 20 PGY1 and PGY2 residents working in a variety of accredited specialties.

Partnerships

Intro:

In February 2014, UCSF and Walgreens entered into a partnership in an effort to create new models of care as patient transition out of the hospital and back into the community. The most visible aspect of the partnership is the establishment of a 1,200-square-foot pharmacy across the street from UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco, where pharmacists from both the university and the pharmacy chain assist patients.
