The University of CaliforniaSummer Institute for Emerging Managers and Leaders is an all-expenses-paid, career- building fellowship which providesintensive two-week training to first- and second-yearstudents from historically black colleges anduniversities(HBCUs)and Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs).
As a participant in the program, you'll learn fromworld-class educators at theUniversityof California's graduate business schools. You'll meet one-on-onewith CEOs, CFOs and other industry leaders insome of thecountry's most thriving hubs for enterpriseand innovation. You'll participate in dynamic, hands-on workshops that will immerse you inprinciples of business development andentrepreneurship and help build analytical, technical and management expertise. You'll gain exposure to opportunities for career development and forcontinuing on to pursue a master'sdegree in business. And you'll make valuableconnectionswith your peers in the program,some of thecountry’s bestand brightest.

What Are the Details?
Who:Thefellowshipisopento25freshmenperfellowshipclass.Studentsmustbecurrentfreshman enrolledatanHBCUorHSIasofNovember2014.Studentsmayapplyfromanymajor,butshould demonstrateaninterestinbusiness
Cost:TheSummerInstituteisanall-expense-paidfellowshipthatincludesairfare;fullroomandboardat campusdormitories;transportation;thecostofmaterials,eventsandentertainmentthatarepartofthe program.
What:Studentsattendfortwoweeksayear,fortwoconsecutiveyears.The2015sessionwillrunfromAugust 2-14.Uponcompletingtheirsecondsession,studentsareissuedaCertificateofCompletionasanemerging leaderandmanagerthatcanbecitedontheirresumesorprovidedasevidenceofmarketableskills.
Where:As a systemwide initiative, the program will rotate throughout the University of California's six participating business schools. This year's program will be at the University of California, San Diego in partnership with the Rady School of Management.
