TUESDAY CLUB PRESIDENT’S REPORT - 2016

Firstly, I would like to say a very big thank you to the following people for their ongoing support, without their willingness to work each week, we would not have a Tuesday Club.

Committee- John Mill, John Hughes, Merv Neilson, Paul Neate; and volunteers, Peter Baynes and Gary Colenso; their dedication and commitment to the Tuesday Club arevery much appreciated.

I would also like to thank the following- Puck, Tony and the Bar Team, plus the catering staff, and a special thank you to Shane and Scott in the Pro Shop for their ongoing support.

Allan Harris and the Admin Staff, Tamara and Kobee, are of great assistance as the Player entry, scoring and result recording become more technically demanding.

Thank you also to the Greens staff for their efforts during a year that has seen the continuation of the fairway replanting program and the ground works to renew the fairway watering system.

It has been a challenging year for the Committee, with fields averaging over 200 Players each week, and a limited number of time slots to meet all Players preferred tee times.

We propose for the new Tuesday Club year, which will commence on the 10th of January, to introduce a 3 month trial for the afternoon field, in order to alleviate the early morning long queues which have become a problem for many.

The 72 time slots from 10.28am to 11.32am will be available for booking online and at the Clubhouse kiosk from 6pm Tuesday, one week prior to the game date.

The 72 time slots from 11.40am to 12.44pm will be available for Players who choose to enter in the Clubhouse on the day.

For this change to work effectively, Players who will not be able to meet their prebooked commitment, must cancel prior to 6pm on the Monday night before the game. Failure to comply with this directive will result in an automatic 2 week suspension from Tuesday Club competitions.

This ruling will also apply to the early morning field, which will be able to book online and at the Clubhouse kiosk from 6pm Tuesday, one week prior to the game date.

In introducing these changes, the Committee have taken into account the history of the Tuesday Club, and the reasons for its original formation. We have attempted to blend the booking technology now available, with traditional systems which allowed Players greater flexibility, and the opportunity to decide on the day if they were available for golf.

We trust that all Members will assist during the 3 months trial period, in a hope that we can achieve a permanent solution.

The Tuesday Club will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2017, and we have planned a special day on 21st February with shot gun starts, lunch and drinks.

Also in 2017, the State of Origin Competition has been retired, and replaced with the President’s Cup, a 3 round aggregate stableford, honour board event which will be played during April and May.

The 2017 Tuesday Club Championships 1st round will move from 11th July, to the 22nd of August, which should ease the problem of limited daylight hours.

Our proposal last year to donate $10,000 to the Club has not yet been enacted, however we have had lengthy discussions with the Club regarding possible purchases and projects, and this will be followed through in the coming months, to achieve the best possible outcome which will benefit all Members.
