Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion for ALL 3 requirements below.

  1. PRIOR ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE. (check box that best pertains to you)
  1. A minimum 2.0 cumulative college GPA in 10 or more transferable units; OR,
  2. For new students to Foothill, please provide transcripts (unofficial is fine) for one of the following:
  3. Minimum 3.5 (either unweighted or weighted) cumulative high school.
  4. Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA in 10 or more units at another accredited college or university.
  1. WRITING PROFICIENCY.
  1. Eligibility for ENGL 1A or 1S & 1T; OR,
  2. English 1AH placement via the Foothill English Assessment Test.
  1. MATH PROFICIENCY (Required for MATH 1AH ONLY): Students requesting MATH 1AH are not required to meet the Writing Proficiency requirements, but must have:
  1. Completion of MATH 48C with a grade of B or better (B- not accepted); OR,
  2. MATH 1A or 1AH placement via the Foothill English Assessment Test

As a Foothill College “Try an Honors Course” student, I will join a community of scholars who are committed to excellence in the learning process. I promise that, as a “Try an Honors Course” student, I will pursue my studies with integrity and honesty; moreover, I know that any incident of academic dishonesty will not be tolerated. Evidence of academic dishonesty will result in my dismissal from the program. In addition, I understand that all students are expected to demonstrate engagement in their learning, which means that I am expected to attend class regularly and participate actively. (Note: students who are uncomfortable participating in class discussions can explore oral communication courses with either Honors Institute staff or Foothill counselors. Some of the classes that have helped other students include COMM 1A, COMM 3, and ESL 165.)
