Job Purpose

The post-holder will primarily be supporting the submission of funding applications to small – medium sizedtrust and foundation donors as part of the co-financing and restricted/unrestricted fundraising requirements. The post-holder will also provide support to the team by assisting with the writing of donor reports, as well as assisting with the processing of fundraising income and researching prospective donors.

Main Responsibilities:

Application Writing

  • Create high impact and engaging funding proposalsfor small – medium sized trusts and foundationswhich meet donor criteria, with accurate budgets
  • Support the development of a small- medium trusts and foundations strategy, both for general and project specific appealsEnsure all relationship management data is recorded on Raiser’s Edge database as appropriate, and paper records are kept and up to date.

Report Writing

  • Support the submission of funder reports

Research

  • Research and evaluate prospective sources of trust, foundations and institutional income to inform future fundraising opportunities.

Perform ad hoc other tasks as and when required

Salary and hours:

We ask for a minimum commitment of 3 days per week over a period of 3 months. Greater London travel (up to Zone 6) and lunch expenses will be reimbursed. Working hours can be flexible, with core hours between 10am and 4pm, and one hour for lunch. Some flexibility for working from home will be possible.

Relationships

The post is part of the Fundraising Department of Y Care International, looking specifically at Programme Funding.The post-holder will work closely with the Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Managerwho will oversee your work and provide you with support.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Excellent writing skills and fluency in written and spoken English
  • Good analytical skills and experience of conducting research in a fundraising, marketing, international development or a relevant academic context
  • Knowledge of and interest in international development issues, especially in relation to young people
  • Good team player with ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritise tasks and commitment to completing the task within the specified time-frame
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people from a broad range of backgrounds, cultures and influence
  • Good word processing skills and experience of Microsoft Office programmes
  • Committed to the aims of Y Care International and the YMCA movement

Desirable

  • Proficiency in spoken and written French and/or Spanish
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge 7 and/or a similar database package
  • Experience of writing fundraising proposals to trusts and foundations
  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector
