Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Officer

Salary :Salary: £23-24k pro rata (21 hours pw)

plus 28 days holidays(pro rata) and pension

Accountable to:Director of Fundraising & Communications

Accountable for:Income from Trusts and Foundations

Location:Manchester or Newcastlebased with travel and overnight stays in London as and when required

Job Summary:

The Trust & Foundation Fundraising Officer is responsible for the development and delivery of an annual plan to achieve a six-figure income target as well as developing long-term relationships with key funders to secure repeat, sustainable funding.

The post-holder will work across the organisation to develop compelling cases for support for funders, whilst managing a portfolio of larger trusts and foundations.

Key Tasks:

  • Work with colleagues across the organisation to identify projects of interest to potential funders and develop attractive cases for support for use across all fundraising streams
  • Lead on the development of a dynamic trust fundraising programme to meet agreed annual targets and secure sustainable income through repeat and multi-year grants
  • Plan and implement a rolling programme of trust funding applications, ensuring a healthy balance of large and small, restricted and unrestricted funding applications to achieve the agreed income target
  • Monitor income and expenditure targets and provide regular progress reports and updates on performance against target
  • Develop and manage high quality cultivation, engagement and stewardship plans for trust prospects and existing priority donors, collaborating with The Director of Fundraising & Communications, senior management and trustees to ensure networking opportunities are maximised
  • Coordinate and lead on the post-grant reporting needs of donors
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Charity’s fundraising strategy
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested by senior managers.

Reporting:

  • To provide the Director of Fundraising & Communications with regular statistical reports on progress against targets, this will include opportunities and threats.
  • To ensure timely grant monitoring and reporting for funders

Performance Management:

  • This role will be performance managed by income target and Key Performance Indicator’s for example; Pipeline of bids, Success/fail rate, Core Funding, PD Funding, Funders reports and feedback.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To attend regular support, supervision and agreed training.
  • To represent the Albert Kennedy Trust appropriately and effectively at all times
  • To work within the Trust’s staff code of conduct and all other policies and procedures.
  • To organise and participate in some events out of office hours, e.g. fundraising and publicity events.
  • Other duties commensurate with the nature of the post.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Officer

Essential:

  • Direct experience of preparing high quality written work in a professional environment
  • Proven experience and a recent track record of success in raising funds from trusts, foundations and other funders.
  • Experience of using a range of fundraising researching tools and techniques
  • Experience of preparing and monitoring work plans and budgets
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Good informationtechnologyskills
  • Ability to understand budgets and summarise financial information accurately.
  • An understanding and appreciation of promoting andchampioning diversity
  • Enthusiasm and motivation to fundraise
  • Ability to develop strong and positive relationships with fundraising and service delivery colleagues in the sector.
  • Ability to work well as part of a small team and to support, manage and motivate other members of staff and volunteers
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise workload and meet deadlines at own initiative and with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel and to work unsociable hours

Desirable:

  • Educated to degree level or its equivalent
  • Knowledge of issues affecting the LGBT community
  • Knowledge of CRM databases (ideally Raisers Edge or Etapestry)
  • A knowledge of issues surrounding homelessness (desirable)
  • Experience of line managing staff or volunteers (desirable)
