WOMEN’S WATER POLO

The month of November was a successful one for the Commerce Women’s Water Polo program. We started the month with Age Group Championships. We had a 10, 12, and 14 & under team competing. The 10 & under started the tournament very strong by winning their first 3 games. With those 3 winning we were now in the semifinals. The girls played very well and finished in 2nd place. The 12 & under team also did very well. The 14 & under team also played very well and did not lose a game, but because of the tie game they finished in 2nd place.

On November 13-16 we competed in the National Speedo Cup Championships that were held in Ann Arbor, MI. Going into the tournament we had the number 1 seed. In our first game we played against Miami. We started the game very slow, but we managed to win the game 15-7. In our 2nd game we played against Annapolis, where we were able to win once again 10-1. The next day we played against Corona. After the wake-up call of the last game the girls started this game very well and finished winning by the score of 5-4. In our 4th game we played against San Diego. We started this game very strong and at the end of the 1st quarter we were winning 4-0 and never looked back. The score at the end of the game was 4-1. In the semifinals we played against Santa Barbara. The Santa Barbara girls were big, strong and fast, but our girls were not scared and played our game and won 6-2. In the finals we played against Tustin we played well, but not good enough to win. We came up two goals short and lost 4-6. We finished in second place.
