Trustee Application
Thank you for responding to our call for Trustees to join the Board of New Writing South. I’m delighted to provide you with information about our organisation, the current members of the Board and the application process.
New Writing South is very excited to be developing new services and approaches whilst remaining a dynamic creative writing hub in southeast England. We’re dedicated to inspiring and connecting all kinds of creative writers, nurturing their aspirations at every level. We are especially keen to support writers whose unheard voices reflect the little-recognised diversity of the South East, encouraging a rich variety of writing perspectives from the region,now and for the future.
Our Trustees ensure good governance of NWS and act as ambassadors, championing the work of the organisation and helping to fundraise. They provide constant guidance and support, especially relevant during a period of change. The Board is instrumental in both strategic planning, working closely with the Chief Executive and the Artistic Director to oversee the overall artistic policy.
As a group of individuals, the Board seeks to possess in aggregate a diverse, relevant skill set. Our current need is for new Trustees who have relevant expertise in business and/or finance, diversity and inclusion.

You are asked to submit a CV with names and contact details of two referees and a covering letter of not more than 500 words explaining what you would bring to the Board and why you wish to become a Trustee. I would be grateful if you could also complete and return the Monitoring form with your application.

Potential Trustees will be invited to join the Board and staff for a glass of wine at an informal gathering at The Writers Place on 15th June to learn more about New Writing South’s work. Interviews will be held in the week beginning 3rd July 2017.
