Job Description

Job Purpose

To research and write applications for trust, foundation and grant giving bodies to achieve fundraising net income targets.

Key Tasks

1.To maximise support from trusts taking responsibility for maintaining and developing existing partnerships and developing, drafting and submitting applications to prospective funders to ensure fundraising net income budgets are achieved.

2.To be responsible for ensuring trusts receive timely reports on grants and up to date information on Hospice activities in order to increase donor involvement, loyalty and funding.

3.To ensure that projects are managed in accordance with grant conditions and restricted funding is appropriately identified and controlled.

4.To work across departments and build effective relationships with clinical and other hospice team members in order to identify suitable projects for trust funding in line with Hospice strategy and budgets.

5.To keep accurate and accessible financial records for forecasting on an ongoing basis, playing a key role in the writing, effective monitoring and development of Hospice trust budgets to ensure net income targets are achieved.

6.To work with the Fundraising Support Team to develop the donor relationship management databases as sources of information and a tool for segmentation and analysis in relation to trusts.

Person Specification

Essential Education and Qualifications / Educated to A level Standard (Minimum) or equivalent
Essential Experience / Experience in bid and/or grant applications
Essential Knowledge Skill / Ability to think creatively to match Hospice project funding with trust criteria
Able to prepare a compelling case for support, including detailed project costs
Ability to work to financial targets and budgets
Excellent research and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Interpersonal skills
An understanding of the importance of evaluating and measuring outcomes
Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Good IT skills including use of Microsoft office for word processing and databases and excel
Ability to build relationships with potential funders
Essential Attributes / Persuasive and written and verbal skills
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
Full understanding of and strong commitment to confidentiality
