TRS-ActiveCare Select
The TRS-ActiveCare plans offered for 2014-2015 are administered by Aetna.
There is a new plan option, TRS-ActiveCare Select, which is a network-only plan similar to an HMO. It is an "Aetna Select Open Access" plan.[NOTE: TRS-ActiveCare 3 will no longer be available; you will be automatically enrolled in TRS-ActiveCare 2 unless you make a new plan selection by August 31, 2014.]
With ActiveCare Select, you are free to see any network provider without a referral. However, there is no coverage if you see a provider who is not in the plan network. The only exception is for a true medical emergency.
There are two networks that make up the ActiveCare Select plan:
- Aetna Select (Open Access) network
- Aetna Whole HealthSMnetwork
Aetna Whole Health is an Accountable CareNetwork (ACN). With Aetna Whole Health, you have a health care team of doctors, nurses, therapists and other providers whose goal is to work with you to meet your unique needs and keep you healthy. Aetna Whole Health is a member-centered approach that may differ from care you have had in the past.
- Your care team’s goal is to keep you healthy or improve your health, not just treat you when you are sick or injured.
- Your care team can better coordinate your care because they can see how other doctors are treating you, what medicines you’re taking, your lab results, your health history and more.
- Your care team is up to date on medical guidelines and clinical information, so they can spot problems early and develop personalized care plans for you.
- Your care team encourages you to play an active and informed role in your health and health care decisions.
How to find an ActiveCare Select provider
If you live in or around San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, or Houston (counties listed below) and elect ActiveCare Select as your 2014-2015 plan option, you will be required to use providers who belong to the Aetna Whole Health network. If you do not live in one of the counties listed, you may choose from the Aetna Select (Open Access) network.
Use “Find a Doctor or Facility” to search for providers byname, specialty, procedure or condition.
Important Note: When searching for providers in the TRS-ActiveCare Selectplan, you must choose from a network based on where you live.
