PROGRAM: Practice camping skills, cooking, and campfires. Work on required advancement—bring handbook. We will be swimming and boating. Possible hike to Silent Lake.

ROUTE: Take Edmonds-Kingston ferry. Follow WA-104 across the Hood Canal Bridge and proceed about three miles to the Southpoint Road (look for a fire engine sign about 0.4 miles after the Teal Lake Road), then turn left (South) onto the Southpoint Road for about 1.6 miles to the Thorndyke Road. Turn slight right onto Thorndyke Road for about 8.5 miles until it intersects with the Coyle Road. Turn left (South) and follow the Coyle Road for about 0.6 miles (about 0.1 miles past Deer Creek Road) and then turn right (West) onto Lemonds Drive (gate access required.) Proceed cautiously on this one-lane dirt road about one mile down towards the water. After passing the horse barn, turn left twice at “Montgomery” signs (signs are removed in the off season.) Follow the road through a valley past a three-car garage, a gas-house, and a two bay-boat house. Where the road turns right, cross the stream over the culvert and drive uphill and take the first right hand turn after the top of the hill. Park in front of the biggest garage.

EQUIPMENT Be fully prepared for an overnight camp with both stove and wood-fire cooking. We will sleep in tents. Bring a towel and swimsuit for the boat. Bring your ten+ essentials (map, compass, flashlight+batteries, extra food, water bottle, extra clothing, sun protection, first-aid kit, pocket knife waterproof matches, candle or fire starter), rain gear, sleeping bag and pad, Scout Handbook, extra-warm clothes, hiking boots, swimsuit, get-wet shoes and toiletries.

Provide your own sack lunches for Saturday and Sunday lunch unless your patrol makes other arrangements. Please note that we may not be leaving until 4-5:00, possibly a long wait at the ferry.
