New Image – Sosebee’s Issues: Daniel Hester will have a conversation with Lawton Howard regarding potential conflicts with Sosebee’s personnel. It is advised that part of the conversation needs to focus on reminding Howard of the need to distinguish between his TIME and TRIP involvements.
TRIP Call Issues (S&W): HERO leaders have discussed the issues raised in the previous month regarding S&W and perceived “call jumping.” The TRIP companies will be reminded their obligations to inform the TMC if they were called out by another agency / entity. Managers will review the TRIP specs to consider possible stronger language and penalties to address this issue, including a potential “three-strike” policy with a suspension option.
TRIP AIR Meeting Minutes
TRIP companies are reminded that if they receive a call by any entity other than GDOT to address an incident that is believed to be a TRIP, they should call and notify the TMC at 404 624 2655. If the TRIP managers are able to determine that an actual call was not received by the TRIP company, serious consequence will occur.

A tractor trailer ran off into an embankment at the exit ramp. TRIP was activated by Cobb County Police. The vehicle was completely off the roadway, but police activated TRIP to have the incident cleared quickly.

A tractor trailer carrying a load of granite overturned. The TRIP company uprighted the vehicle on the shoulder and returned later to completely clear the scene. Extra equipment was called.

Two tractor trailers overturned; one carried treated sludge waste, the other sand. The TRIP company used the spilled sand to assist in the scene cleanup. Extra equipment was called to scrape up the spilled materials.

One tractor trailer ran into the back of another at the entrance to the tunnel. A police vehicle was involved in the wreck. Extra equipment was called to assist in cleaning debris. Another TRIP was also called to the scene by local police dispatch. Extra educational outreach will be made to the area.

A tractor attempting to miss another vehicle slide down the guardrail, causing damage. The vehicle needed to be removed from the guardrail.
Incident #303: 2.22.13 (356461) I-285 northbound north of I-20 (Barrow)

A passenger vehicle struck the back of a tractor trailer, causing the vehicle to jackknife. The truck’s frame broke from the impact, and a fuel tank ruptured. Extra care was used to straighten the vehicle and remove it from the lanes.

A truck carrying rolls of paper struck an embankment, causing the load to shift and the vehicle to overturn. Multiple trailers were needed to move the load from the scene during the recovery.
