Kevin Jackson – President Tri-State RUG
9:15 am – 10:15 am / Member Spotlight – Kathy Shell - Hillenbrand, Inc./Batesville Casket Company
Batesville Casket's recent ERP system upgrade faced many challenges. There were several big changes taking place as part of the upgrade including the switch from a client server version of the application to a web version, integration with active directory for authentication and an impact to many of the applications that integrate with the ERP system and are used to run the business. All these changes added up to the need for a well thought-out change management plan. With this in mind, a plan was developed that included pre-implementation and post-implementation activities to ensure that the application's 900+ users were aware of and ready for the change.
Within the change management plan, particular attention was given to preparing the end users for the change to the look and feel of the application, the "quirks" of the web interface, and managing the questions that were inevitable following the upgrade. Pre-implementation activities consisted of a combination of training, communication and hands-on experience to begin setting the stage. Post-implementation, a command center and follow-up communications were used to ensure all users' issues were addressed in a timely manner and new learning were shared throughout the organization.

Go… FASTER! Without a hardware upgrade!
Data files grow quickly over time. Eventually, system performance suffers. Hardware upgrades are expensive. Archiving data is a cost effective, repeatable process that can substantially improve system performance.
Purging and archiving old data is more difficult than it first seems. Complex relationships between files and the data dependencies across functional areas make it even more difficult. Done incorrectly, serious integrity issues result.
Plexus is routinely performing archive and purge for XE on an Oracle database using ARCTOOLS. This presentation will review the project - project team, installation, results, benefits and lessons learned.
Arctools is also applicable to Enterprise One on SQL Server.
Objective
• Learn the benefits of purge and archive with Integrity
• Review the project team members, approach and efforts required
• Share purge and archive best practices and lessons learned / OBIEE - Terillium

Title: Love month end, IT dependency, re-keying data, and endless JDE reports? Then don’t attend this session!
Abstract:
It’s such fun isn’t it? Month end reports run from JDE that take forever to run and have to be re-run with each update that is found and done. Having reporting requirements that go into the “IT Project hopper” and wait for a resource to become available. Month ends that seem to take forever as the reports run and run and run. Oh yeah, and then there is the rekeying that needs to be done (or downloads that you hope will work) for some of the analysis that you just can’t do in JDE.
Come see how you can use the skills your users already have with Excel to quickly and easily create, run and distribute your reports. Use the preconfigured capabilities for GL, Sales, Job Cost and Fixed Assets or create your own against any tables. Distribute via email, file share and live link reports at the push of a button. Said the CFO of one of our customers: “We cut our month end down by two days, and saved a ton of paper in the process. This is the best tool for JDE I have ever seen or worked with.” Another added “One of the best features is that we no longer need to recreate reports like budget to actual or departmental expense reports. We built it once, and we're done!". We will touch on the benefits obtained by several customers during the session.
Although focused on JD Edwards, the tool and capabilities also extend to PeopleSoft, Oracle E-Business Suite and most other ERP engines and files.
