Next Meeting

The next meeting is September 7th at the Lefty Gomez Rec Hall. The Junior meeting starts at 7:00 and the General meeting starts at 7:30. See ya there!

Wild West Overnight

It was hot but we squeezed in some horse and cow fun in the evenings and mornings. The cows were big this year (long horns) but mooovable unless you mess with her baby to much (Spencer) or you may need to be saved (Jay). You had to be there! For details ask Jay.

The food and company was great. Two years ago Aug. 10th Tim and I had to leave a horse camp out to see our new grandchild (Ryan) by Karen. Sunday morning we did it again, by Karen again. Her name is Kassie Michelle Clagg, born July 31st at 10:18 am. 6 pounds 3 ounces and 19" long. She was early but is doing very well. Karen too. I would like to say "THANK YOU" to everyone who came and left our place neat and clean even though we were not there at the end.

How about if next year we plan this a little earlier in the year to beat the heat? We will be able to get more calves next time too. Hopefully no more grand kids!

Poker Ride

Although the day started out foggy, by 10:00 the sun was out and it was a beautiful day for a ride. Approximately 40 riders participated in the poker ride with approximately 50 for dinner. Riders exclaimed how beautiful the ride was and how delicious the barbecue. So even though the turn out was low I think we can declare it a success!!

Other then Shannon Fowler trying to impersonate “The Man From Snowy River” there were no problems or injuries. Shannon and Princess are both fine and only received a few bumps and scratches from their “incident”. Thank you to everyone that expressed their concern.

I want to thank those members that helped, without you we could not have done it!

·  Irvin Alexander and Jay Fowler were the chefs of the great barbecue and worked all day over the coals.

·  Michelle Short helped the chefs and with what ever else needed done.

·  Marcie Humphrey, Bev Hayes, and Denise Vance spent the day on the trail passing out cards, thanks ladies!

·  Uncle John Robinson manned the gate and directed traffic.

·  Caitlin and Shannon Fowler and Spencer all pitched in and helped with set-up.

·  Judy Hill, Marty Brooks and Deanna Fowler were busy handling registration and opening poker hands.

·  Janelle and Jimmy Humphrey for helping wherever needed.

·  John and Holly Paganetti helped with clean-up and whatever else needed done.

·  Thanks on Sunday go to Deanna, Caitlin, Spencer, and Jimmy for manning the manure rakes and cleaning up the meadow of manure.

And special thanks go to my family, Jay, Deanna, Caitlin, Shannon, and Spencer for helping with the shopping, packing and transporting everything to and from the park.

Letter From a Rider

Hi Everyone,

I want to thank you for putting together the Poker Ride, so people like me could kick back and soak it all in, just enjoy the ride and good food and good company. I particularly enjoyed all the extras, like hanging around the campsite at night sitting by the fire and telling funny stories. And more good food. It was amazing to see all the effort and coordination and cooperation among mostly family members it took to have the Poker Ride weekend come off without a hitch. The coup the grace was when you emptied the entire meadow of every horse apple there was before you left. If all the Poker Riders only knew. Again, many, many thanks for all your efforts and I will see you again next year.

Regards,

Christel Belrichard

Some athletes don't care what kind of shoes they wear, or how many fans they have. They don't even care that they're on television from coast to coast. They just want to run.
