Shoemaker PTO meeting minutes April 2014
Treasurer’s Report: See balance sheet: Net balance $15,443 (updated 4/10/14)
We approved the expenditure of an additional$100 for the first grade field trip to the Lehigh Valley Zoo so cost to students is only $5.
VP Staff and School: Specialists have received a reminder to spend the amounts allocated in the budget for clubs, and the principal’s funds will be transferred soon.
VP Parents & Community: Email blasts are still sent to approximately the same number of registered users but volunteers and meeting attendance are down so a survey is planned to seek feedback.
Committee Reports:
Box Tops/Labels: This year we made about $3,800; the check will be mailed from General Mills soon. Students are invited to continue to send Box Tops through May.
Read a Thon: We have still had a few last minute donations. The students and classrooms received over $2,500 back for the Book Fair and numbers will soon be finalized.
Schwann’s: Poor sales this time around. Limit on gift cards. Is there anything we can offer as an incentive? Do we need to think of other ideas for next year?
Rollerskating/East Penn Children’s Fitness Academy: These events have been changed due to the limitations in size/capacity. An Ice Cream Social to build sundaes is planned for May 30th. Ice Cream World is selling the kits for $1.50 and we will sell the sundaes for $3.
Barnes and Noble Night: Miss Super is not available for the fifth grader chorus so we are exploring other options to increase attendance.
Spirit Wear: Windbreakers and baseball caps were added and the final sale is closed. Items will be delivered in 2-3 weeks.
Shoemaker Iron Pigs game:May 10th. Heather Wilson coordinating tickets and RSVPs. Deadline extended.
