Transparency International Sercetariat Internship

in the Asia Pacific Department

The Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S) is seeking a highly motivated, pro-active intern to support its work in the Asia Pacific Department.

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

Main function: Assisting the Regional Director in coordinating the Asia Pacific Department
Starting date: 15 January 2013
Duration: Six months, full-time, Monday-Friday
Department: Asia Pacific
Remuneration: EUR 400 (according to the German labour and social security law)
Location: Berlin, Germany

Key tasks:

·  Conducting background research for campaign work, presentations and media interviews;

·  Assisting in the communications and campaigns work of the Asia Pacific Department;

·  Documenting good practices from chapters across the Asia Pacific region;

·  Assisting and supporting the Asia Pacific Department with programme and project implementation and various daily operational tasks;

·  Providing support for workshops and meetings, such as various regional conferences bringing together national chapters and contacts in the Asia Pacific region;

·  Preparing meeting reports;

·  Providing administrative support to APD team members and other tasks as assigned by manager;

·  Interns are also encouraged to undertake a personal project which encompasses 1/3 of their work and will be agreed in the first few weeks of the internship.

Knowledge, experience, interests and skills:

·  Excellent English (spoken and written) is a key requirement; knowledge of Asian language(s) is an advantage;

·  Academic background in international relations and political science (or other relevant fields);

·  Demonstrated interest and knowledge of the Asia Pacific region;

·  Strong communications and organisational skills;

·  Strong intercultural skills;

·  Demonstrated interpersonal skills and team spirit, with the ability to work effectively in an international work environment;

·  Adaptable and flexible personality, able to handle multiple tasks and workloads, ability to prioritise own work;

·  Interest in research and campaigns work an advantage;

·  Experience in office work;

·  Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
