Dear Parent/Carer,

Transition to Sixth Form – Monday 4thto Friday 8th July 2016

Your child has applied for a place in the Sixth Form at The Northumberland Church of England Academy, and as part of the process of undertaking study here, we require that all students participate in our Transition Week. It is an expected element of the move into Year 12.

Transition week has been designed to enable students to address some of the new challenges they will face in the Sixth Form and the activities that they will undertake will help them develop a range of skills that will enhance their ability to make the most of their Post 16 education.

We build into the programme a number of activities to support independent learning, study skills and enrichment opportunities, which will enable students to start their sixth form career effectively.

Students will also have the opportunity to attend lessons in the courses they have chosen. Please see the table below detailing the courses your child currently holds an offer for in Year 12.

I have enclosed a copy of the full timetable for your information. Students will have access to the usual lunch arrangements within school or will be permitted to leave site for lunch. Students may attend in non-school uniform but should be smartly dressed.

We look forward to working with our new sixth form students over the transition week. If your child is unable to attend please contact the Sixth Form team on 01670 816111 extension 370.

Yours sincerely

Mrs D Towers
