‘Trans Lakes Nights’Transgender Social and Support Group

Newsletter No 23

September 2012

Hi

Had a poor turn out in August due to summer holidays on 14th evening. We have the themed night this month which is all things Burlesque!! On the other hand we are getting more people popping in for a coffee during the ‘Tuesday’ days.

Have a look at Cumbria pride this coming month, see their website

As I write the organisers are arranging special accommodation prices for the weekend. Please contact them before trying to book.

Last year there was at least 8 trans people at the event I hope we double that this year.

Also for more northerly Cumbrian girls [at the moment]

Social Establishments

For those venturing out in south Cumbria the following are a few of the establishments where I have been comfortable and the management and staffhave been welcoming. Common sense and the need to make the most of early times I suggest. Especially if your size dosnt help you to blend in.

  • Abbey House Hotel, Barrow.
  • The Albion, 29 Dalton Road, Barrow In Furness, Cumbria, LA14 2EXVery welcoming towards the trans that go in.
  • Bells Coffee Shop on Dalton Rd Barrow. Friendly staff and pleasant surroundings.

  • Duke of Edinburgh, Barrow for a drink and snack.

  • The Rose and Crown, Ulverston for meals.
  • The Ship, restaurant [early evening during the week suggested], Roose, Barrow
