Training: Managing Vicarious Trauma

Vicarious trauma is defined as the detrimental impacts experienced by people working with trauma or traumatised clients.

Experiencing problematic levels of vicarious trauma can be reduced through training.

NSW Rape Crisis Centre’s workshop: Vicarious Trauma - Managing the Inevitable is designed to assist frontline, supervisory and managerial staff to identify and respond effectively to vicarious trauma in the workplace.

This training may benefit if you work with:

  • Vulnerable families in need of family support services, drug and alcohol treatment programs, mental health services, or counselling services
  • Children and families who have experienced violence

Vicarious Trauma training is being provided free of charge to staff working in services which are participating in the Keep Them Safe program.

By participating in the Vicarious Trauma - Managing the Inevitable Workshop, workers and supervisors will:
