Toyota Helping Drive ‘Royal’

NEW car market leader Toyota New Zealand is lending a golden touch to an impending Manawatu event celebrating heartland New Zealand.

The Palmerston North-based firm has become a Gold sponsor for the entertainment zone at the Royal A and P New Zealand Show at Manfeild Park in December.

The backing further cements the relationship Toyota New Zealand has with Manawatu’s fastest-growing and most impressive multi-events facility.

Host rights for The Royal A and P Show New Zealand this year and in 2014 are held by a consortium comprising Manfeild Park Trust, the Manawatu West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the Feilding Industrial Agricultural and Pastoral Association and Park-based PBBnz (Performance Beef Breeders New Zealand).

“Toyota is really proud to be supporting the consortia in bringing the Royal A and P Show to our community,” said Toyota New Zealand corporate marketing manager Andrew Davis.

Manfeild chief executive and consortium committee member Heather Verry said it was fantastic to have a close friend on board for the December 6-8 event.

“Toyota New Zealand has been a wonderful supporter of Manfeild Park for many years – it is the driving force behind the New Zealand Grand Prix and has used our world-famous circuit for the development of some best-selling cars.

“It gives us extra pleasure to see them now spread their support to another performance arena, our entertainment zone that will be the centrepiece of three solid days of community-focused fun.”

National icon acts The Warratahs and The Topp Twins have signed for the Toyota entertainment arena. For the youngsters, the band Titanium has been signed for Saturday night’s Christmas at the Royal. Saturday and Sunday will have a full programme of activities throughout the day, with the night performances commencing at 7pm.

Saturday will see Father Christmas “dropping in” and Sunday’s show will culminate with a Fireworks Spectacular. They are both family events – a picnic basket affair!

The massive entertainment programme will also include a Grand Parade, numerous competitions, farmworld, side shows and trade exhibitions.

The show consortium aims to see more than 25,000 people from throughout the country through the gates of Manfeild Park.

“Our concept is to present an unforgettable family occasion,” Mrs Verry said. “The excitement is already starting to build.”
