VOCATIONAL EDUCATION UNDER THE SCHEME OF RUSA

ORDINANCE & CURRICULUM FOR THE DIPLOMA COURSE ON:

1(ONE) YEAR DIPLOMA COURSE ON ITES ON VOCATIONAL EDUCATION UNDER THE RUSA AT PAR STANDARD OF NSQF LEVEL 5.

1 YEAR COURSE WITH 2 SEMESTERS OF 6(SIX) MONTHS

  1. The course of study leading to the 1(one) year diploma course in ITES which conforms the Level 5 of the NSQF of UGC under the concerned Sector Council.
  2. The component of the course shall include Theory, Lecture, Tutorials, Practical, seminars and Hands-on programme which are to be conducted at the college with the expertise from the partner industry.

Apart from the above, industrial exposure shall also be included as a part of the course/curriculum.

  1. The course shall be guided by a coordinator from the college not below the rank of Associate professor/Assistant professor.
  2. Conduct of semester examination, declaration and issue of mark card shall be done by the Manipur University/Bodies constituted by the Directorate of Higher Education, Manipur/Manipur State Higher Education/concerned Institute/Concerned Sector Skill Council (SSC).
  3. After completing each of the semester exam, student may appear the exam conducted by the concerned sector skill council (SSC) for the skill components and as such student may obtain level 4 certificate from the concerned SSC after completing the first semester. Student may obtain the level 5 certificate after completing the second semester of the proposed course (diploma).

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:

Any Student Undergoing Graduate Course.

CURRICULUM:

  1. The curriculum in each of the semester of the programme shall be a blended of General Education and Skill Development Component.
  2. The Skill Development shall consist of 60% and the General Education will consist 40% of the total weightage i.e. 36 Credits on Skill Development & 24 credits on General Education out of60 credits in total splitting over 2 semesters of 6 months each.
  3. One credit would mean equivalent to 14-15 periods of 60 min. for theory and 28-30 periods of 60 min. for workshop/ lab, practical & tutorials.
  4. For internship/field work, the credit weightage for equivalent hours shall be 50% of that for lectures/tutorials.
  5. For self-learning, based on e-content or otherwise, the credit weight age for equivalent hours of study shall be 50% of that for lectures/tutorials.
  6. The curriculum would focus on the readiness (work) skill.
  7. The Curriculum should necessarily embed itself within the National Occupational Standards (NOSs) of the specific job roles within the industry sector. This would enable the students to meet the learning outcomes specified in the NOSs.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION AND EVALUATION:

  1. Credit system converted into the numerical marking system of evaluation shall be adopted. Each paper will carry 100 marks including practical and out if which the 40 marks shall be internal assessment while remaining 60marks shall be University exam/Bodies constituted by the Directorate of Higher Education, Manipur/Manipur State Higher Education, Manipur /concerned Institute/Concerned Sector Skill Council (SSC).
  1. Semester examination shall carry weightage 60 marks of each paper and shall be conducted by one of the above body at the semester. Duration of exam shall be 2hrs.
  1. Internal Assessment of 40 marks in each paper shall be calculated as follows for General components: All marking shall be done by the institute.
  2. Three examination (30 min): 16 marks (best of two shall be selected)
  3. Two assignments: 16 Marks (8 marks each)
  4. Attendance: 8 marks ( 8 marks for 80% and above, 6
    marks for 75 – 80%, 3 marks & 3 marks for
    70 -75% while 0 marks for below 70%)
  5. Internal Assessment of 40 marks in each paper shall be calculated as follows for General components: All marking shall be done by the institute and concerned industry partner.
  6. Three examination (30 min)

Conducted by the industry partner: 16 marks (best of two shall be selected)

  1. Industrial Exposure/Field Visit to be carried

out by the concerned industry partner: 16 Marks (8 marks each)

  1. Attendance: 8 marks ( 8 marks for 80% and above, 6
    marks for 75 – 80%, 3 marks & 3 marks
    for 70 -75% while 0 marks for below
    70%)

CRITERIA TO PASS THE EXAMINATION:

  1. To pass the examination, theory paper a candidate shall secure 50% i.e 30 marks out of 60 in the semester exam and 20 marks out of 40marks (internal assessment).
