TOPIC: Yearbook Ads

Be a part of history and place an ad in the East View High School yearbook! Help support the yearbook and showcase your EVHS student, business, or club. Whether you're a parent, sister, best friend or distant cousin, there's no better way to express your feelings and show your appreciation to the EVHS student in your life than with a "Love, Congrats, or Good Luck" ad. Include your personal message and photographs to create a memory that will last a lifetime. All ads are full color and must be submitted and paid in full by March 8. Pick up a flyer at the diamondor from Mrs. Fabean for more information.

Also – The cost of the yearbook is now $50.00, and will remain at this price until March 16th. So, don’t forget to go to Balfour.com to order your yearbook, or bring a check to Mrs. Fabian made out to East View.

TOPIC: East View Men’s Soccer

The EV men's soccer team defeated Elgin 1-0 last night to extend their district record to 6-1-1. Martin Lopez scored with an assist by Caleb Vandegrift. Brendan Soto recorded the shutout. The boys return home against Manor on Friday.

TOPIC: Boys Golf

The Boys Golf Team played in the Killeen Tournament at Stonetree Country Club. Leading scorer for the Patriots was K.C. Sullivan. Other members of the team were Shawn Oshel, Payden Clayman, and Tanner Davis. Tanner Davis shot acareer best round!

TOPIC: East View Tennis

Patriots - On Friday the team competed hard in the toughest weather conditions of the season so far and earned their best results so far. Arden Baxter earned 2nd place in A girls singles losing a close match to Temple in the final. Frances Stone and Sarah Bustillos won consolation in A girls doubles with a sweeping 8-2 victory. Shaun Oshel and Kenneth Williams earned 2nd in A Boys doubles losing a close match with a strong Brownwood team. Nick Behling had his most dominant A boys singles performance of the singles, cruising to the final and winning 6-0, 6-1. Koy Stone also had his best singles showing winning 2nd place in B boys singles. Kelsey Krupicka also won first place in B girls singles with a dominant win in the final 6-3 6-2. Drake McIntosh and Terrick Williams won second place in B Doubles losing a very close final match in the third set 5-10. Finally, freshman partners Quincy Sorenson and Megan Gross had another dominant performance in mixed doubles winning first place again 6-2 6-4. Congratulations to the whole team for a dominant showing in each event!!

TOPIC: Volunteer Hours

Students – Do you still need volunteer hours, well we still need volunteers. Stop by the Diamond and see Mrs. Evans to sign up for soccer concessions, we have plenty of days still available.

TOPIC: East View Softball

The Patriot softball teamhad their first home game of the season last night, and it was a great night at the Patriot Softball Complex. We had quite a few students in attendance, and the Patriots battled the 3A Taylor Lady Ducks. It was a tough contest in which both of the pitchers had numerous strikeouts. The Patriots got on the board first in the 5th inning, but the Ducks rallied to make it 1-1 after the top of the 6th. In the bottom of the sixth, the Patriots scored again, and held on in the 7th for the 2-1 victory. The Patriots are now 6-2 on the season.

Starting tomorrow, the Patriots will be hosting the East View Patriot Classic softball tournament. We invite teachersstudents to come outto the ball park, and look forward to a loud crowd on Thursday and Friday. The Patriots will be playing at 9:30AM, 12:30PM, 2:30PM, & 5:00PM tomorrow. We will not know the bracket schedule for Friday and Saturday until after the completion of Thursday's game. We would love to see you there!

TOPIC: East View PALs

Do you consider yourself to be a good role model? Are you interested in becoming a PAL and representing East View High School? If so, the PALs are now accepting applications for the 2013-2014 school year. Come by and pick up an application packet from Mr. Dominguez in room 502.

TOPIC: Choir Is A Place To Belong!

The EVHS Choir program is looking for students who want to be part of our program. If you are interested in being part of our team, please tell your counselor or come by the Choir room to talkwith Mrs. Douglas, the Choir Director. There is a place for everyone. We have all levels of experience in our program and whether you have previous Choir experience or not, we would loveto talk to you. Next year, in addition to our choir courses, we want toadd aMen's Choir so if you are a guy and you want to try out singing in a fun, laid backand stress free environment, this is a great place to start.

TOPIC: 2013 Miss Georgetown Scholarship Pageant

Looking to earn some money for college? The Miss Georgetown Scholarship Pageant awards thousands of dollars in scholarship money each year - it's a great opportunity to showcase your talent and earn some money for school! This year’s pageant will be on Sat., April 6. All young ladies in 9th - 12th grades who are interested in learning more about the 2013 Pageant are invited to attend a Meet & Greet at Mel’s Lonestar Lanes on Thursday, Feb. 28! Come have some fun and get all the detailed info you will need! Please visit our Facebook page to reserve a spot and for more information and other dates coming up!

TOPIC: Cheer Tryouts

Got Spirit??? EVHS Cheer Tryouts are just around the corner!!
The Tryouts will be held on Friday, March 1st in the gym at EVHS. Tryout material will be taught to all candidates at three cheer clinics which will be held in the gym on:
Tuesday, Feb 26th, Wednesday, Feb. 27th and Thursday, Feb 28th from 4:00 - 5:30 pm
Participants and a parent must attend a mandatory cheer tryout meeting. You may come either today,
Wed., Feb 20th at 6:00 pm in the Lecture Hall or tomorrow,
Thurs., Feb 21st at 7:00 pm in the Library
Tryout information packets will be available for pick up in the front office beginning this Friday, Feb 15th.
Good luck to all participants! We are excited to see you there!

We will also have tryouts for our EVHS Mascot at the same time of Cheer tryouts. The possibility exists for a JV and Varsity Mascot. All interested applicants should pick up a tryout packet and attend one of the mandatory tryout meetings.

TOPIC: Cornell University's Engineering Camp for Girls

DREAM BIG. LOVE WHAT YOU DO. BECOME AN ENGINEER!

The CURIE Academy is a one-week summer residential program for high school girls who excel in math and science. The focus is on juniors and seniors who may not have had prior opportunities to explore engineering, but want to learn more about the many opportunities in engineering in an interactive atmosphere.

Cornell University's world-renowned faculty and graduate students will lead CURIE participants in classes, lab sessions, and project research. Social events, panel discussions, and other out-of-classroom activities will provide participants with opportunities to network informally with Cornell faculty, staff, and students.

Join us for the CURIE Academy and spend a week making new friends, experiencing life on a university campus, and exploring the many exciting possibilities awaiting you in engineering!
