TOPIC: TOP 10 Food Industry Companies, Years 2011 – 2013, Latvia

Aim: to identify jobs and the of job market perspectives in food industry in Latvia.

Task: to get acquainted with TOP 10 food industry companies.

Procedure:

1.  Divide students in pairs,

2.  Give each pair name of one company and texts: information about TOP 10 food industry companies for Task 1 and structure of the food company for Task 2,

3.  Students prepare a presentation about their company (Task 1) according to such plan:

4.  Students present their company using the points of the plan (Task 1),

5.  Students name all the professions they know, that can be seen in the structure of the given food company (Task 2).

Methodology guide:

1.  TOP 10 food industry companies (in tables) TOP according to turnover,

2.  Informative text, aimed at rising students’ interest, as well as checking their answers and giving feedback,

3.  Sources of information are indicated in the Table of Contents (Attachment No 2.),

4.  In order to ease the teacher’s job tables are made (TOP 10 year 2011 - TOP 10 year 2013), and the structure of food companies is the same in LP and in students’ Worksheets except the given answers (to help the teacher to check students’ work),

Tasks for students:

1.  Using tables (TOP 10 year 2011 - TOP 10 year 2013) and the given plan, prepare a presentation about the given company,

2.  Name the professions that can be seen in the structure of the food company.
