TOPIC: East View Yearbook

Yearbook heads-up! The cost of the yearbook is now $50.00, and will remain at this price until March 16th. Our staff is busy taking pictures and getting quotes of all the most memorable moments of the year, and chances are… you’re in it! TOPIC: Serteens

East View Serteens will be collecting used jeans for a program called Teens for Jeans. Each year, there are 1.7 million homeless people under the age of 18, and the most frequent request isfor apair of jeans. Please help fill this need by dropping off your gently used jeans to room 223 through Feb. 10th. Thank you

TOPIC: Varsity Tennis

Patriots - Friday your Varsity tennis team competed in the first tournament of the season and also the first annual GISD Varsity Tournament invitational. The 18 team tournamentwas a big success with some of the best teams in central Texas represented. Shaun Oshel and Kenneth Williams were semi-finalists in A-Boys doubles beating a tough Georgetown team in 3 sets 7-6, 6-7, and 10-8! Jeffrey Watts and Sarah Bustillos were also Consolation finalists in Mixed doubles. Congratulations to all players who competed.

TOPIC: Candy Grams

Candy Grams will be on sale this week from today until Wednesday at lunch and before school. Make plans to buy your special sweetheart, favorite teacher, librarian, principal, ACC instructor, and best frienda yummy treat that will make their day. Candy Grams are $2 each or 3 for $5 which includes a personalized note from you. Make sure you know the A-day schedule of the recipient to ensure proper delivery. Candy Gram sales will continue February 4th-13th.

TOPIC: Patriot Swimming

The Patriot Swimming Team competed in the District 18-4A Swimming & Diving meet. The girls placed 3rd and the boy’s team 4th out of eleven teams.

Madison Smith won the 50 & 100 Freestyle events.

New School Record:

Caleb Gober = 100 Butterfly 1:04.71

Zachary Morrissey = 200 Freestyle 2:00.77

Girls 200 Medley Relay = 2:14.87

Girls 200 Free Relay = 1:55.66

A total of 13 Patriot swimmers have advanced to the Regional meet on February 8-9, 2013.

TOPIC: SportQuest Scholarship Program

SportQuest (Playing with a Purpose) is more than a scholarship program. This program honors and encourages10th, 11th and 12th grade athletes who have committed their life to following Christ. Through scholarships, college exposure, community and national recognition, sport ministry training and leadership development, the program encourages them to make a difference in the world. TOPIC: Band Boosters: Mardi Gras Festival

The EVHS Band Boosters will be hosting a Mardi Gras Festival on Saturday February 2nd from 12-5pm for the Georgetown Community! The festival will be at East View HS in the Cafeteria, and features a Gumbo Cook-off, Kid’s Games and Prizes, Flat Screen TV Raffle, Silent Auction Baskets, Cajun Food, Craft and Vendor Booths, and an Entertainment Stage which features local artists. Georgetown’s very own Colin Huntley will make a special appearance for a special hour performance! Entry into the Festival is FREE but we encourage you to bring cash to enjoy the food, games and win prizes!Gumbo Cook-off Applications, Vendor/Craft Booth Applications and more information may be found at

TOPIC: Cornell University'sEngineering Camp for Girls

DREAM BIG. LOVE WHAT YOU DO. BECOME AN ENGINEER!

The CURIE Academy is a one-week summer residential program for high school girls who excel in math and science. The focus is on juniors and seniors who may not have had prior opportunities to explore engineering, but want to learn more about the many opportunities in engineering in an interactive atmosphere.

Cornell University's world-renowned faculty and graduate students will lead CURIE participants in classes, lab sessions, and project research. Social events, panel discussions, and other out-of-classroom activities will provide participants with opportunities to network informally with Cornell faculty, staff, and students.

Join us for the CURIE Academy and spend a week making new friends, experiencing life on a university campus, and exploring the many exciting possibilities awaiting you in engineering!
