JOB TITLE: 16 PLUS SERVICES MANAGER

GRADE:£32,000 per annum

REPORTING TO:LEAD MANAGER

LOCATION:BETHNAL GREEN

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The ‘16 Plus Services Manager’ is responsible for implementing, managing and co-ordinating all aspects of a coherent and cohesive offer for ThinkForward’s 16-19 year old cohort.

Working closely with our school-based Progression Managers, developing sustainable relationships and partnership workwith Further Education institutions and employers, and collaborating with key members of the central staff team.

Main duties will involve developing and implementing processes to track and record the status of ThinkForward young people, implementing and coordinating a variety of enrichment opportunities, developing relevant partnership initiatives, identifying and developing employment and apprenticeship opportunities, making appropriate referrals to the young people’s Progression Manager for further support, as well as forming and linking with external services and opportunities.

You will be the expert for 16 plus opportunities and interventions within ThinkForward.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee young people’s progression status, keeping appraised of their training, education and employment status and needs
  • Support the development and co-ordination of centralised enrichment opportunities
  • Communicate updates and opportunities to the 16 plus cohort (including group e-mails, messaging and updating of our website)
  • Identify and develop relationships and collaborations with key personnel at Further Education institutions and Local Authorities
  • Create systems and processes to share relevant information and data with Further Education institutions, to aid successful transitions and case load feedback
  • Co-ordinate Progression Manager surgeries to be held within major Further Education institutions and other community spaces
  • Make referrals back to the Progression Managers as required and requested by the young people
  • Develop appropriate partnership and referral procedures with services appropriate for 16- 19 year olds
  • Identify and develop targeted pathways towards apprenticeships and sustainable employment
  • Support some aspects of the co-ordination of the ThinkForward ambassador programme
  • Support the development of an alumni and near-peer mentoring programme

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience and knowledge

­Direct experience of working with vulnerable young people

­An understanding of the needs and challenges faced by young people in vulnerable circumstances

­Excellent knowledge of the 16 plus apprenticeship and employment landscape

­An excellent knowledge and understanding of the services available for 16 - 19 year olds

­An existing network of organisations offering a wide range of support and guidance for 16-19 year olds

­Experience of developing networks and managing mulitple stakeholders

­Extensive project management experience

­Self-starter and experience of establishing a new role

Qualities and skills

­Personable, able to effectively communicate and build lasting relationships across different stakeholder groups, partner organisations and individuals

­Self-motivated and pro-active in establishing a new role

­Extremely strong organisational and project management skills

­Persistent and patient

­Resilent with the ability to deal effectively with resistance and hurdles

­Quality driven

­Excellent computer literacy
