Dear Parents,

Welcome to team 8C! Your student’s teachers this year are Dr. Hillsworth Charles (Science), Mrs. Heidi Evans (Math), Ms. Synovia Bethea (Language Arts), Mrs. Patty Wilder(Georgia History), and ( Inclusion teacher). Combined we have over 97years of teaching experience and are looking forward to having a productive, successful and rewarding school year. This year we will be preparing your student for the challenges of high school. The workload will be heavy and our expectations are very high! So in order to successfully educate your student we are asking for your help at home. Your student should have purchased an agenda at registration and if not, please purchase one as soon as possible at the school store for $6.00. This will be a vital form of organization for your student, a good way for you to monitor their assignments, and a communication tool used between you and the teachers. So please check it nightly. If nothing is written, please question this. Your student will have some form of homework every night whether it’s in one subject or all subjects. In addition, we expect all assignments to be completed for mastery. If an assignment is not submitted and/or does not meet our expectations, then the student must complete or redo the assignment before the end of the unit and will receive only half of the grade earned. If assignments are not turned in before the allotted time, the student will receive a zero. Beginning second semester, late work will not be accepted.Be on the look out for extra credit opportunities. These assignments can help offset any low grades and we encourage our students to complete all extra credit assignments given. One can never have enough extra credit. You may check each teacher’s website for daily and/or weekly homework assignments. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email us. This is by far the best and quickest way to get in touch with us. We will be available for conferences by appointment between 12:30 and 1:30pmMonday, Thursday, or Friday. There are four conference nights scheduled throughout the school year and these dates will be posted on our websites. These conference appointments are on a first come first served basis and are scheduled through the counseling office. Also, in order to keep up with your child’s progress, the school will be sending a progress report home every four and a half weeks. Those dates will be posted on our syllabus and/or websites as well.

Today, your student received a packet of information that needs to be read through and signed. Lockers have a maintenance fee of $1.00 and one will not be issued to your student until the required papers are returned to the homeroom teacher along with the required fee. Thank you very much for all that you do and for allowing us to promote a supportive educational program for your child.

Educationally Yours,

The Teachers of 8C
