Toastmasters Evaluation Form - Evaluating Vocal Variety

Evaluating Speakers’ Vocal Variety & Pronunciation Speaker: ______

The way words are spoken will be remembered rather than the actual words. We are 5 times more likely to be influenced by the voice than by the spoken words. Presentation is the key to keeping our audience attentive and making the message more memorable.

Vocal Variety

·  Variety is the spice of life.
·  Flat, listless, unchanging voice leads to a flat presentation.
·  Follow instincts in changing rate pitch, volume to reflect feelings. /

Pronunciation

·  Every word has 3 aspects: read, written and spoken
·  The problem lies when a speaker does not know the correct pronunciation of a word.
·  Rehearse prior to delivery.
