To Record in Photo Story 3 on most LISD Computers:

Note: Make sure the Photo Story 3 project does not have music added to insure that the narration will record properly. In some cases it works okay no matter the order but in some cases it does not.

Directions may vary a little depending on the brand of computer and microphone used.

1.  Plug in the microphone to the front of the computer. (Pink Outlet)

2.  Double-click on the Speaker icon in the taskbar of the computer to bring up the Volume Control menu.

3.  In the Volume Control window go to Options to Properties.

4.  Click the radio button next to Recording and click OK.

5.  The Recording Control window will appear.

6.  Under the Microphone setting column:

·  Make sure the volume for the microphone is at the top bar. Adjust the slider as needed.

·  Make sure Select has a checkmark.

·  Click the Advanced button and then click in the square to put a check beside Mic Boost.

o  If the Advanced button is not showing go to Options to Advanced Controls to make it appear.

7.  Click Close after checking the square next to Mic Boost

8.  Close the Recording Control window by clicking the red X.

9.  Go to the recording area of your Photo Story file and begin recording. Each slide will need to be clicked to add narration to each individual slide.

NOTE: On some computers an error message will appear each time you attempt to record on a slide. Click NO and the recording process will begin immediately.

Be prepared to say the desired narration a few seconds after the recording process begins. When finished click the stop button. Preview the narration before selecting the next slide. Save often!!!

Recording Hints:

·  Preview each recording as you work through the slides.

·  Record some silence at the beginning and end of each slide to allow for a smooth transition between slides.

o  After clicking the record button pause for a few seconds before beginning the narration.

o  When finished with the narration pause for a few seconds before clicking the stop button.

·  Make sure you save the project several times during the recording process.

·  After the recordings are finished you may add music as desired.

·  Make sure the volume for the music is lowered so the recording can be heard. Preview the project before saving as a Windows Media file for playback on a computer.
