Scoil Mochua – Aghards

To: Parents/Guardians of Junior Infant children.

We hope that your children are settling into their new classes and are adjusting to the school routine.

Exiting Arrangements

·  From Tuesday 5th. September class teacher will take the children to the area inside the school gate. Please collect children at this point only. Children can not be collected through the staff car park.

·  Do not block the pathway with buggies or allow children to walk on the grass.

·  Children are not permitted to climb on the safety rail or the school gate.

·  Parents are requested to be on time every day.

Morning Arrangements

From Wednesday 6th. September Parents/Guardians leave children at the school gate and children proceed to the yard on their own. Teachers and children have practiced this routine.

Please note that from Monday 11th. September, Junior Infants will commence their full infant day - 9.00a.m. until 1.40p.m. Until then the children will finish their school day at 12 noon. As we will have a large number of children exiting at 1.40p.m. from September 11th we ask you to exercise caution at all times.

Meeting for Parents of Junior Infants

Parents/Guardians of Junior Infant children are invited to a meeting in the Small Hall on Wednesday 20th. September at 8.00p.m. This will be followed by a meeting with your child’s class teacher in the classroom.

It is important for all parents to attend this meeting which will finish not later than 9.30p.m.

PE Times: Room 1 à Tuesday and Thursday

Room 2 à Monday and Wednesday

Room 3 à Wednesday and Friday

Children wear school tracksuit on PE days only and school uniform on all other days.

Photo: All children are asked to bring in a recent photograph of themselves with their family.

Lunch: Parents are requested to observe the Healthy Eating Policy as outlined in ‘Your Child in Scoil Mochua’ pages 50, 51. Please put drink containers in a plastic bag to avoid damage from spillage.

Belongings: Please label all children’s bags, clothes and books. Children do not require a pencil case. Pencils, crayons etc are supplied in school. For health and safety reasons please avoid using ‘wheelie’ school bags.

Hygiene: For hygiene reasons, towels are not provided in the children’s bathrooms. We ask parents to provide each child with a small hand towel (a face cloth should suffice). This should be kept in the child’s school bag in a small plastic bag or wash bag and should not be shared with anyone else. Please ensure that the towel is changed and washed regularly.

Dogs: For health and safety reasons do not bring dogs into the school grounds.

Registration: Please ensure that you have returned your child’s Registration Form to the office.
