Job Purpose
The purpose of this job is to:
Project manage the Bath Hub schools’ conversion process to ensure a smooth transition and that each school feels part of the trust.
The project manager role involves the start-up, planning, management, assessment, execution and close down of a project to ensure that the desired outcomes are achieved within the time and budget parameters set for the project.
Working with all teams across the Trust, particularly schools, School improvement, finance, operations and HR, to support a programme of continuous organisational performance improvement which helps the Trust achieve its ambition of becoming a high performing organisation.
Lead and manage a delivery of aligned programmes, including the provision of team and individual solutions across the organisation aligned with the Strategic Plan.
To be responsible for the development of the communications strategy for the Trust.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
Schools Conversion
  • To manage the conversion process for each school joining the trust. Pulling together the individual teams, external suppliers and functions that are required to deliver and support new schools.
  • For a group of schools that will make up a new HUB, the project manager will enable more collaborative pre conversion workstreams to ensure that the culture of each school is firmly in place to operate the HUB school Improvement model.
  • Liaising with all stakeholders through the conversion process to ensure all statutory and local consultations take place within the timelines.
  • Ensure Governors are clear on the Scheme of delegation and are operationally effective post conversion.
  • Ensure all actions are undertaken by the relevant team in accordance with the conversion planning document.
  • Develop and improve conversion documentation for new schools joining the trust.
Project Management
To oversee corporate projects and to ensure the desired result is achieved, the most efficient resources are used, and the different interests involved are satisfied.
  • To representing the Trust’s interests, and provide advice on the management of projects organising the various professional people working on a project.
Specific projects required by April 2018:
  • Payroll and HR system Optional Appraisal
  • General Data Protection Regulations Compliance
Organisational Change
  • Manage the change process in any staff restructures or reviews
  • Manage the change process in any major system or procedural design change
  • Bring together the relevant teams to provide clear business reasons and benefits of change.
  • Ensure the implementation of change has been communicated with clarity and that all schools impacted have been informed.
Communications
  • To be responsible for the development of the communications strategy for the Trust.
  • To be the Trust’s face for communications with a focus on new Schools or Hubs joining the Trust.
  • To be responsible for managing all internal and external communications for the Trust ensuring its messages are consistent.
  • Implementing communications plans to increase the Trust’s brand awareness and recognition for the organisation.
  • Collating and analysing current communications and messages and ensuring consistency.

Supervision and Management
To lead on large corporate projects which may require managing a team/facilitating.
To lead on Organisational design and embed within the Trust.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

KEY CRITERIA / ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Qualifications and Experience /
  • Degree level, Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Extensive senior management experience in a complex delivery environment demonstrating delivery of change and operational planning
  • Considerable experience in the design and delivery of organisation wide change management programmes
  • Experience of policy development and implementation that reflects both corporate and system wide directives

  • PRINCE II Project management
  • Accredited award in Coaching and/or Action learning
  • Previous experience within the Education environment
  • Experience large scale change programmes within Education or within a relatable sector

Knowledge /
  • Extensive, highly developed specialist knowledge in organisational development
  • Able to demonstrate up to date knowledge of theory and good practice in key areas: - Organisation development particularly around change management and developing organisational culture – Project Management.
  • Track record in delivering successful OD projects and supporting major organisational change; influencing, building and sustaining relationships in order to achieve results.

Skills and Abilities /
  • High quality relationship management, influencing, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strategic thinking, planning and analysis skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions to support the management of change
  • Presence and credibility to work with the SLT and seniorcolleagues across the Trust
  • Highly organised and able to manage a broad portfolio of activities
  • IT Literate, with good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint  High quality personal governance and commitment to the Trust’s and organisational values
