1 / MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
  • Responsible for managing a team of Through The Gate Support Officers through effective leadership and management to achieve contract outcomes.

  • To generate programme outcomes by carrying out the following activities:
  • Staff Management
  • KPI Reporting
  • Relationship Management

4 / DIMENSIONS AND LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
  • Income generation and achievement of contractual targets
  • Staff Welfare, Well-being, Development and Performance Management
  • Authorise staff expenses
  • Setting individual development plans for each staff member.

5 / EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS LEVEL
  • Educated to or ability to operate at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable experience in people and performance management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Criminal Justice sector in the North East
  • Results driven
  • Competent in the use of ICT (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Databases)
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines.

6 / ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Applicants will need to demonstrate that they are currently stable in relation to housing arrangements, addictions and offending activity
  • A full driving licence and the use of a car would be advantageous as there is extensive travelling involved in this post over a large geographical area
  • Subject to an Enhanced Disclosure check and HMP clearance

PART 2: DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Management
  • Monitor and review individual performance with weekly contact, monthly supervision and ad hoc assistance
  • Set and manage goals and objectives and identify learning and development needs
  • Observe and monitor quality of service provided by staff
  • Supervise, support, guide & mentor staff within department through Wise Group’s PDP process
  • Manage a small case load of clients as necessary
  • Assist with time and resource planning and management of caseloads
  • Conduct risk assessments with staff when working in the community with participants
  • Monitor, authorise & track absence levels, taking appropriate action if required
  • Initiate & conduct disciplinary procedures if required.
Budgetary Control & Accountability
  • Collating & reporting statistical data and information to assist in performance and budgetary forecasts & projections
  • Assist with the development of the service by analysing data and identifying improvements.
Relationship Management
  • Liaise & network with Wise Group internal delivery, support and core services
  • Liaise & network with external agencies and partners to the benefit of the service
  • Build & maintain relationships with relevant CRC staff
  • Represent company on appropriate local & national forums
  • Frequent contact with other departments and projects within the Wise Group to maximise contract and support service opportunities.
