LOCATION:CampSamac – Kitchie Lodge and Lakeland Camping Area

ARRIVAL TIME:Leaders - 3:00 p.m. Friday – Set up can begin

Cubs- after 6:00 p.m. Friday

Groups check in at Kitchie Lodge to select a site and get a site pass. Equipment Transport and Food Vehicle passes will be available at the gate with security

DEPARTURE TIME:After Scouts Own and before 2:00 p.m. Sunday.

A committee member must check out your site before you leave CampSamac.

SITE ALLOCATION:Camp site location and event location will be part of your registration package with grid maps supplied as well on the website.

REGISTRATION:Area registration fees are $20.00 per youth (Cub) and $7.00 per leader and $7.00 charge per adult volunteer. There is no charge for Scout and Venturer volunteers.

No registrations will be received after Friday May 22/2015

Council Policy states that cash is not acceptable at Area Events. Cheques should be made payable to: SCOUTS CANADA– Refunds will not be given. DO NOT PUT OWASCO AREA. No personal cheques. They must come from the group

Please deliver registrations by May 22to the registrar. Last minute individual registrations will notbe accepted at camp.

During the weekend, once there are youth in camp - NO vehicles can be moved unless walked in or out by Security or a committee member.

EVENTS:Every Pack is expected to run an event. Please plan your event to represent the theme. If you have a smaller group, we can arrange to partner you with another smaller group to share an event and travel around the venue together.

Please let the registrar know which event you want to register for and if you wish to be partnered with another group.

OWASCO CUBOREE GENERAL CAMP RULES

Please read and discuss these rules of behavior and etiquette with your group before you arrive at camp. Leaders, please ensure that Cub parents read and understand these rules as well. We are all subject to the Policies of Scouts Canada. The Cuboree rules exist to help ensure that the event will be safe and fun.

General

1.Leaders are responsible for their youth At All times.

2.Cubs may not arrive before their Pack Scouters are at the Campsite.

3.Full uniform is required during:

  • Arrival and Departure
  • Opening Ceremony
  • Scouts Own
  • Closing Ceremony

4.Packs are requested to bring only their pack flag and are required to bring a pack sign illustrating the pack name. Recommended size for pack sign: minimum 1’ x 2’, maximum 4 ft. sq.The only Canadian flag to be flown will be the one from the Owasco Area.

  • Group pennants are to be on display at your site and can be paraded in at ceremonies (Opening, Saturday Campfire, Scouts Own and Closing) and for judging. There will be judging and prizes.

5.One leader will be required from each pack for each of the following events.

  • Leaders Meeting on Friday night (9:00 p.m. in front of Kitchie Lodge
  • Friday night outdoor movie
  • The Banderlog Race will be on Saturday at 4 pm and it will be at the Event Field.

6.Please be prepared to have activities for the youth for down time. Maybe badge work.

7.Everybody is invited to participate in the campfire on Saturday night. Uniformis optional. The youth are not expected to stand for the campfire – you should plan to bring a couple of blankets to put on the ground. Youth are not to bring flashlights.

8.Picnic tables will be available for your use. Each Packshould have one (1) picnic table for every eight cubs attending.

.FIRE, SECURITY, SAFETY AND SANITATION

  1. Med Vents will be on site.It is still advisable for each group to have a First Aid Kit on site and visible. Each group must have two (2) working fire extinguishers per cooking area and sufficient water-filled buckets at tents for use on fires only (1 bucket between every 2 tents). .
  2. Please bring a supply of water to drink. There are also taps available which are fed with City of Oshawa water. We encourage the use of re-usable water containers. Let’s all ‘Lug a Mug’ and help reduce waste.Each pack is responsible for supplying their cubs with drinks periodically during the day. It is suggested that you bring a supply of refillable water bottles to the event field.

  1. Everyone at the Cuboree, cubs and adults alike, must wear a hat and a shirt, and should have sunscreen on at all times during the day to avoid getting heat-related injuries..

Under no circumstance is any cub to be near the creek without supervision.

  1. If the Cuboree Committee is aware of any safety violations, pack leaders will be advised of the reason for concern and the pack will be given a reasonable opportunity to come into compliance with the rules. If the pack remains in violation of the rules, the Cuboree Committee may request that the pack leave the Cuboree immediately. As your Committee is liable for the pack’s actions, the Cuboree Committee Chairperson will be advised, as will the Area Commissioner and the AAC Pack.

Parking and Traffic

Please ensure all leaders and volunteers are aware of these instructions before arriving.

  1. Ventures will be assisting the Committee members with parking and traffic control, to ensure the safety of everyone. Please be patient Friday evening and Sunday afternoon will be busy.Please respect theVentures instructions.
  2. Any vehicle being moved while youth are in camp MUST be walked in and walked out by security, or committee member.
  3. There will be one vehicle per site for food storage and it is NOT to be moved until after 12:00 p.m. On Sunday. All other vehicles will be parked in the CampSamac north parking lot. There will be no vehicle traffic into the camping area after 6:00 p.m. Friday except for handicap parking and committee equipment delivery. The campsites are only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the north parking lot. To ensure everyone’s safety, please arrange to arrive early on Friday, but not before 3:00 p.m., to deliver your equipment to your site and before cubs, parents and leaders start walking in with their gear.
  4. Packs will be allocated the following vehicle passes if required:
  5. Green Pass–This vehicle can be used to store food and equipment but must not be moved during the weekend which must be displayed on the dashboard.
  6. YellowPass– For supply vehicle and is used to transport equipment at the beginning and end of camp. This pass can be transfer to other vehicles.
  7. Purple–For Handicap Parking. Handicap Parking will be at Kitchie.
  8. All other vehicles–must be parked in the north parking area.

No vehicle will be allowed past security without a pass
