Overall job purpose
This role is aimed at supporting young people to achieve their full potential. Within the role you will develop and maintain positive partnerships which add real value to students learning and experiences.
This person’s responsibilities are:
  • To focus and develop partnerships to support learning’
- To ensure all partners have a brief on ‘learning’ at City Academy.
- To support curriculum areas in ‘making sense of learning’ and making learning ‘real.
- To source external partners to support the Academy Improvement Plan.
- Support the Information Advice and Guidance Officer (IAG) /Head of Careers by sourcing suitable work experience placements from our partners.
- Support and attend parents evenings with our partners.
  • To manage and co-ordinate the Academy’s database of partnerships
- Liaise with Curriculum Leaders, SLT and associate staff to ensure it is kept up to date.
  • Manage and maintain the volunteer/mentoring programme at The City Academy across the curriculum.
- Linking in with the university volunteer programmes.
- Recruit volunteers for Shine reading project.
- Recruit and manage Community Volunteers.
- Ensure all volunteers are DBS checked/vetted/risk assessed in accordance with City Academy Safer Recruitment and Vetting procedures.
- Keep accurate records of which Volunteers CAB are using and not using and inform HR.
- Ensure the City Academy Volunteering policy is adhered to.
  • Community
- To be a part of the Community team and support the Community team strategy to raise the profile of City Academy.
- Represent City Academy and attend community meetings, events and forums.
- Support community project work and training
- Support CAB community events e.g. CAB Community days.
- To assist in the management of the Beacon Centre.
  • Funding
- Link with partners on fundraising bids
- Be aware of all reporting and financial constraints of specific projects.
- Ensure all financial aspects of the role are linked with the Finance team within The City Academy.
- Develop funding bids that may support the Community team.
  • Supporting One World Learning Trust
- Work with the schools in the Trust to ensure the community partnerships are strong and having a positive impact on the educational context.
Monitoring Performance
- Performance will ultimately be measured against the targets set by The EDI and Community Lead
- You will be expected to use data to inform future actions and learning activities for both groups and individual students
- Performance will also be measured by ensuring projects are delivered within the financial parameters set by the Principal. / Accountability:
You are accountable to the Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Community Lead for your own performance and that of any staff for whom you are responsible. You will also have to report to The Principal as appropriate.
You are expected to set the highest personal standards of performance for yourself, and with the support of your line manager, you are responsible for ensuring your own learning and development by way of work-based and /or other methods of study.
Success will be measured through:
Performance against agreed quality indicators.
Achievement of individual targets within the annual Performance Development Review process.
General notes:
Your hours of work are to be as agreed with your line manager and a degree of flexibility is essential. Where working hours are changed as a result of a business or operational need, you will be expected to comply with the new hours so long as no substantial change has been made.
In addition to those detailed above, other duties may be undertaken from time to time and the specific duties of the post may change as the post develops. You will be expected to co-operate where such changes are reasonable.
