What is a lotus diagram?
This analytical tool is used for organization and brainstorming. It helps break down topics of information, which can then be prioritized for additional study.
Steps in creating a lotus diagram
- Determine topic to be studied.
- Brainstorm ideas into major topics.
- Use the template or create own lotus diagram.
- Place the main topic in the center of the lotus diagram. Beginning at the diagonal right out spot, number each around the center from 1 to 8.
- Brainstorm information about each of the subtopics to study.
When do you use a lotus diagram?
· To promote logical and creative thinking
· To engage others in analysis and brainstorming
· To generate ideas that can be split out after the first round of brainstorming
