Purpose /

To assist the Regional Manager in ensuring that the retail outlets operate legally, effectively and efficiently

Principle Objectives
  • To ensure full compliance with all health and safety legislation, trading standards, and all other legal and statutory requirements.
  • To ensure that shops operate to their full potential and that shop managers are equipped and able to meet specified sales targets.
  • To manage shop staff and volunteers, providing support and leadership.

Responsibilities
Operational Duties
  1. Work with the shop staff to achieve maximum sales together with excellent customer service.
  2. Ensure that the shops are operational during agreed trading hours.
  3. Ensure the shops maintain a high standard of presentation, with particular attention to daily cleaning.
  4. Carry out special promotions as required.
  5. Ensure that cash is banked daily, and that all staff and volunteers are trained to use the till according to DEBRA’s procedures.
  6. Ensure weekly returns are made to HO and/or Regional Manager.
  7. Assist the Shop Managers to source donations and ensure sufficient stock.
  8. Ensure that all shops participate in DEBRA’s stock rotation procedure and stock collection scheme.
  9. Ensure that all sales are recorded according to DEBRA’s procedure

Management Responsibilities
  1. Provide support and leadership to the Shop Managers.
  2. Organise adequate induction for shop staff, to include training of DEBRA’s policies and procedures, especially those for disciplinary and grievance.
  3. Maintain staff cover in the shops at all times.
  4. Attend training as required, and impart knowledge to the shop staff and volunteers, with particular emphasis on the following areas:
  5. stock processing,
  6. customer service,
  7. administration,
  8. housekeeping,
  9. merchandising, presentation and window display
  10. Provide assistance to the Shop Managers to promote the shops as a focal point of information to the public.
  11. Develop a mutually beneficial relationship with local fundraising groups, involving DEBRA’s Regional Fundraiser.
  12. Act as a key holder and assume out of hours responsibility for the security of the shops.
  13. Inform Regional Manager of required shop maintenance work.

Legal Compliance
  1. Ensure that each shop complies with all instructions regarding the display of notices for insurance, Office/Shops & Railway Premises Act, fire regulations and all other legal requirements.
  2. Ensure that each shop is equipped with an accident book, first aid box and fire extinguishers.
