To the Parents (or guardians) of ______

(Student’s Name)

From: Mr. Allen of the Social Studies Department

“It is said that you cannot understand your future if you do not understand your past”. The Social Studies department’s goal is to teach students the significance of past events by taking notes, cooperation in active group work, readings, and written essays. In addition, in order to better illustrate the implications of Psychology, human behavior, and to understand the differences between people, we will show films and documentations that correlate with the topics covered in our classroom. However, some of these films are rated “PG-13” or “R” and may show scenes of a graphic nature and some mild violence. Some of the films that fall under these categories are: A Beautiful Mind, Good Will Hunting, Runaway Jury, Girl Interrupted, A Few Good Men, Seven, Sleepers, JFK, and many Psychological Interventions featuring step by step solutions to Conflict Management, Emotional Mastery, and breaking through limiting beliefs about the self to create an extraordinary quality of life for the students and everyone around them by world renown Psychotherapists.

If the parent of the student decides not to allow their child to watch such films, they will be sent to the library while showing the motion picture. The student will be given a specific assignment at the library and will return upon the film’s conclusion. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call (305) 371-0400 ext 2165. Your concern for your child’s education is strongly welcomed and appreciated.

Please read and sign the information below.

I give my child the permission to view the films listed above, and understand its implication. (Note: by not signing, your child will not be allowed to watch these films)
