TNA District 12 Educational Scholarship Information

General Information
The TNA District Educational Scholarship is an educational scholarship provided by the Tennessee Nurses Foundation to all TNA District Associations in an amount up to $1,000 per fiscal year. The TNF's fiscal year is July 1 through June 30. District 12 serves Dyer, Lauderdale, and Tipton counties.

All requests for TNA District 12 scholarships shall be made to any current TNA District 12 officer serving on the TNA District 12 Board of Directors. Application forms are available from the TNA District 12 officers and members, or you can download the forms from the TNA website, and click the District Associations tab for District 12. Approval for granting scholarships shall rest with the TNA District 12 Board of Directors. Applicants must complete the application, have satisfactory references, and agree to the terms of this scholarship request.

The number of scholarship recipients will be contingent upon the number of qualified applicants. The maximum number of recipients will be two (2) receiving $500 each. This scholarship is intended to financially support TNA District 12 licensed members and pre-licensure nursing students living in TNA District 12. Potential recipients must be working toward an entry level (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree), RN to BSN, or a graduate degree in nursing (Masters, Post-Masters Certificate, or Doctorate). TNA District 12 licensed members do not have to be enrolled in a nursing program located within TNA District 12. Pre-licensure nursing students must be attending a program located within TNA District 12 to be eligible.

TNA District 12 Scholarship Award Eligibility

  1. Applicant must be enrolled in a nursing program of study at an accredited institution of higher education.
  2. Applicant must be a current member of TNA District 12, Tennessee Student Nurses Association (TSNA), NSNA, or SNA.
  3. Applicant must be a resident of TNA District 12.
  4. Applicant must submit a completed application and all supporting documents as instructed in the application instructions below. An incomplete packet will result in ineligibility for scholarship.

Post-Scholarship Recipient Criteria

Submit evidence to TNA District 12 for how the awarded scholarship funds were used. This may be an invitation for oral presentation during a scheduled TNA District 12 full membership meeting.

Application Packet Submission Instructions

  1. Complete the TNA District 12 Educational Scholarship Application form.
  2. Submit by attachment - proof of current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program from an institute of higher learning.
  3. Submit by attachment – current transcripts
  4. Submit by attachment - 2 letters of recommendation or recommendation forms found in the application, at least one of which is a nursing faculty member of the accredited Nursing program attending, and one of which is a current TNA District 12 member.
  5. Submit by attachment - an essay (minimum 300-500 words; 1000 word max.) to include
  6. Career/education goals
  7. Value of the professional nursing organization
  8. Expected time-frame for completion of your certificate/degree
  9. How scholarship funds will be used

NOTE: All four of the above components must be addressed. Avoid use of identifying information in this essay.

Applications are reviewed once each academic year. The submission deadline for each academic year is March 15th.
