BACKGROUND

Oxfam New Zealand (ONZ) is an independent humanitarian, advocacy and development agency, affiliated to Oxfam International.

This intern position sits within the Marketing & Fundraising team which is part of the Engagement department at ONZ.

The Marketing& Fundraising Manager leads the team with functional responsibilities for:

  • Brand development
  • Product development and materials collation
  • Strategy and product management for Oxfam’s Morning Tea, Oxfam Unwrapped and cash appeals
  • Design, production and distribution of marketing materials (by print & email)
  • Advertising

Using the channels of:

  • Direct marketing
  • All advertising mediums
SCOPE OF INTERNSHIP

The purpose of the role is to provide support to the Marketing and Fundraising teamin developing and implementing effective marketing and advertising campaigns, that will attract target numbers of participants and donors for Oxfam Trailwalker and Oxfam Unwrapped, and associated activities and tasks as required.

This internship also offers a great opportunity for a current or recent student who seeks to gain practical marketing experience.

PRIMARY Responsibilities

Support the work of the Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator by:

  1. Creative: assist with the development and delivery of marketing materials across all communication channels for Oxfam Unwrapped and Oxfam Trailwalker. This includes research and story gathering, image selection,proof reading artwork and copy.
  1. Advertising: assist on the delivery of effective advertising plans. This includes ensuring the timely placement of marketing adverts for Oxfam’s fundraising products and campaigns. Identify opportunities and new channels for Oxfam’s products to be promoted to a variety of audiences.
  1. Print & Production: support with print and production processes, including scheduling, completing print specs, obtaining quotes, and stock control.
  1. With the Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator, review the effectiveness of all marketing and advertising strategies, with the aim of identifying and documenting successes and learning for future planning.
  1. Contribute to the success of the Marketing & Fundraising team through active participation in the team meetings.
  1. Undertake any other activities that may be delegated or requested by the Marketing & Fundraising Coordinator that are in keeping with the scope of this internship.

COMPETENCIES

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

  • Studying tertiary qualification in administration, marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent commensurate experience
  • Experience of scheduling and project management
  • Experience of working in a target driven environment
  • Experience or knowledge of data analysis and reporting
  • Experience of working in the Not for Profit sector would be an advantage
  • Experience of print design, production & distribution would be useful

  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills
  • Excellent IT skills particularly in Microsoft applications, including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
